    2020 Sled Season

Thanks Guys! Mt Baker is one of those places that if the weather is good, it's a great place to ride. If the weather is poor, not so much due to no visibility which doesn't allow you to see the potential hazards. Going to try and go again Friday if the weather is good. Probably will be the last...

    2020 Sled Season

Some pics from last Thursday (5/7/20) on Mt Baker! The mountain in the back ground with Jim, is Mt Rainier which is approx 100 miles away.

    Quiet ride helmets?

Yeah I was a little hesitant to take apart a set of Bose headphones due to the cost. At the time that was pretty much all that was available at the time. On the plus side though, if you plug in an Ipod they have excellent acoustics! I don't use an Ipod very often though, I did it mainly for the...

    Quiet ride helmets?

Still using it, I do like it and it does make a significant difference. I have tinnitus also and like you I'm trying to save what hearing I have left. That being said, I did modify some Bose noise cancelling head phones and installed those in place of the standard ear muffs. There are two types...

    2020 Sled Season

Only about 400 miles so far, but it's mostly all mountain riding so we don't clock the mileage that you guys in the mid-west and east do. The good news is the snow pack is looking decent, so hopefully we can ride into May, or possibly June. Mainly depends on how cold/wet spring we get as far as...

    Pulverized Rail tips

Yeah, I could definitely see how that would cause the track to hang up on the drivers and cause the loop effect. Basically with the driver's that badly worn and not straight, it effectively puts them out of time with each other as well. To be that badly worn, there may have been a fair amount of...

    Backorders on front axel???

The aluminum ones are different Steve, they are hollow like you mentioned. However the hex drive continues across the shaft with out it tapering down. For a sealing surface on the caliper side they use a steel (possibly stainless steel) sleeve that also acts as a stop for the bearing to but up...

    Front skid spring

I believe it's there for sleds that run smaller paddle tracks such as flat lander sleds with large diameter internal tooth drivers. Cat uses the front tunnel halve for a variety of different sleds.

    Front skid spring

I would leave the front arm in the lower hole and move the rear to the center hole. This will allow the skid to transfer weight more and lighten the front end somewhat. You can also make the sled easier to lay over by decreasing the ski shock pressure as well.

Fox Float Evols - do I have this right for adjustment?

Typically you will get your best ride quality when you set the EVOL chamber to 40% to 45% more then what your running in the main chamber. There are exceptions to this of course, depending on terrain, riding style, etc. For example, 65 psi main + 40% = 91 psi in the EVOL chamber.

    Pulverized Rail tips

Wow those are chewed up pretty good. I wonder if the track tension might be loose? While under load, that would be the slack side of the track and it's possible that the track could be "looping up" before it gets to the rails. You could drop the rear of the skid, the draw back is it may reduce...

    Pulverized Rail tips

Does your sled have anti-stab wheels at the front of the rails? If not, then adding them will help a lot with reducing the rail tip wear. If you already have anti-stab wheels, then you may want to shorten the limiter strap by one or two holes. This will help reduce the pressure on the rail tip...

    Roll Over Valve Help

Hunt 24/7 I replied to your email as well. The ROV pictured is an older Yamaha unit that was made by MPI. The LED is something that a previous owner added as those units were not originally equipped with one. The double wire eye is ground and attached to chassis ground. The Brown wire with the...

    track alignment issues

It's not uncommon to have the track tensioned a little more on one side then the other in order to get it to track straight. It seems like that I have had to do that on just about every sled I have owned to some degree. With tracks that are clipped every other window, I will lube the track...

QS3/QS3r/IQS Third position closer to #2 Mod

My sled is a mountain sled so with that in mind, I've only used position 3 once or twice. Mainly on a smooth groomed trail with lots of corners and I wanted the sled to corner flatter. (which it does) Otherwise I usually run #1 off trail/mountain (#2 in the rear shock if it's whooped out) #1...

2015 vs 2016 MTX rear skid difference

Interesting, Yamaha must have made the rail change in 2017, while Cat made the change in 2016. The Silver and Green rails are 2015 Cat rails, while the Black one is a 2016 rail. (Credit for the photo goes to Christopher on SW)

    Evo 2.5 flash

I ran my XF7000 with a 2.5 flash, Straightline header, air box mod with both the Straightline and stock muffler. No issues and the sled runs fine, ended up going back to the stock muffler for sound reduction because I'm old:-)!
