I have an Excell exhaust on my Attak which I had on an Apex last year. Nice power kick and a nice, but, not ignorant bark. The fit and finish go nicely with the sled too.
It's much better to work with a Yamaha dealer whose dealership caters to snowmobiling primarily. What I mean is that some dealerships are centered around other forms of motorsports moreso than snowmobiling. My experience has been that Yami dealers who are really into snowmobiling put that...
Boy are you right on that Mighty! I put my Silverstars in last season and put my sled next to a buddy's identical Apex and what a difference from stock. Just a great and inexpensive upgrade!
I purchased the ice-ripper track for my Apex last year. I was very disappointed in the performance. Minimal improvement at best over stock and certainly a far cry from traditional studs. My advise would be to not waste your money for such little return. For added safety and traction stud the...
If you typically smoke sleds with a 1.25 lug then you typically run on hard packed snow or ice. In fairly loose snow you'll spin a lot while the 1.25 lugged track will dig in and "shovel" much better. In that situation you'll be smoked consistently by a similiar sled. Black 1000 is right in...
Oh, it's noticibly louder especially when you hit it. Excellent brrrrappppp noice. However, at idle it's not much difference at all. If you ease into the throttle it's not bad either ( if your going through a residential area). I've had to go through a couple of trailside checkpoints with no...
I've had the Simmons on a Warrior and an Apex GT and was very satisfied. Controls darting very well. I agree with Tork in that I don't believe you lose top end. Definately worth the investment over the stock ski's.
Back to the ice ripper track. I put one on my Apex last year and was quite disappointed with the results. Absolutely not on par with traditional studding. For the sake of safety, if nothing else, stud your stock track and don't waste your money on the ice ripper.
I saw that ad and instantly thought of what a great compliment that is to Yamaha. They know who's breathing down their necks. They should add the parts necessary for their first few motor jobs to equal the weight. :4STroke:
Interesting responses. I was kind of concerned that it would not be much better than the mono-shock skid. However, I own a large truck that has an air-seat and that makes all the difference in the world. It seems that that technology would certainly help a sled.
I've been reading a lot about the new Airwave Suspension from FAST. Sounds like a great idea. I'm considering putting it under the new Attak I will soon take delivery of. Any info or suggestions on whether or not it would be a good idea for an Attak?[/i]
I purchased the Ice-Ripper track to put on my Apex GT. Although they do provide some extra braking and traction it is a far cry from a conventionally "studded" track, even if the track only has 96 studs. I've put on 1800 miles in a variety of conditions and have not been that impressed with...
gregs30, I thought of that as well. I asked around and found that the important thing to do is get the 55/60 watt match to the stockers. These match and I've been nothing but pleased.
The Sylvania Silverstar part # is 9003 and I picked mine up at Walmart. Put these in and set your sled next to one with stock bulbs and marvel at the upgrade. What makes it even more impressive is the fact that the stock ones aren't bad.
A prime example of how we can benefit from using this site is that I learned about the Silverstar headlights from TY. They make a huge difference in clarity and range. I don't know who first brought it up, but, I'm glad they did. I would recommend them to anyone and for about $35. it's a real...
I'm getting in the 16 range since my 500 mile oil change. My dealer, Gary's in Caribou, ME., told me it would likely go up some over the next 500 miles or so.
