JHC A TEAM OF VIRTUALLY STOCK SIDEWINDERS JUST CAME IN 2ND IN CAINS QUEST. THEY ALMOST WON. Another Winder team was running in the top 3 for most of the race. Load up your Apexes and give that a try buckaroos. There has been no competitive Japan built sleds since the early SXR days. Thank...
I expect to be back for years to come as one of my friends bought a camp in Beaver Cove to semi-retire and is really enjoying the Maine life. Boy we hopped in my truck to go home from the airport and see all the I-95 traffic makes you miss Greenville instantly.
I have a 1.6 Ice Cobra to try to...
Going home today. Rode a mix of trail and exploring untracked roads and some backcountry play areas. Mistakenly took a bunch of night time advil after I got my rental car so no riding the day I arrived. Lost 1/2 of Sunday chasing down the front skid shock bottom spring retainer and setting up...
Ol Dave seems like a bit of a grump but Steve told me to check for Polaris or Cat so when I asked Dave to cross check he click click clicked for a while and then he said I think I have that here and got up to fetch it. I was happy to get the part and be back riding same day. He even cracked a...
Hey Pete. Yes Steve sells this spring. I got mine from Stingray mods since Steve didnt have any at the time. I like the spring. I add more pre-load before leaving this morning but I think I will go a bit. Cant say for sure how long but I rode for at least a day apparently with a broken spring...
Bill Mohr spring installed. Way better. Especially in comparison to stock spring with no bottom retainer. By the way I now have parts from all mfgs on my sled. The Spring Retainer isna polaris part. $15 from Fox but $58 from local dealer in Polaris packaging.
So it seems the the small spring broke at some point causing slack and letting the retainer at the bottom at the cross bar to come out. Judging by the marking on the bar sleves it was a last a few rides.
Thanks Pete. Yes Greenville we have had several sleds serviced with the local guy on the lake not far from here. We are going be waiting for Jackman Powersports at 9a opening tomorrow to see if they have part. Otherwise there are other sleds here I can ride. Hell maybe I'll rent a Ski-Donkey.
Went to install Bill Mohr spring and found my main spring loose and small spring broken. Seems like I am missing the lower spring retainer. Can someone post a photo of the shock and or tell me which part I am missing?
Thanks Jack
Your sleds are very sharp. Without going to wider A-Arms you can get a pre-'20 Winder even flatter with CA MTX skis which gives a wider footprint. I'm still adjust out some of the steering effort however.
Yes I replaced a bent spindle from hitting something off trail. The impact jarref my hands off the bars. It was impossible to perceive without a straight edge but my ski was noticeably sitting at angle with the outside edge higher than the inside edge.
All the rivets under the gas tank are loose on an Apex at the same miles. I've done far more fixes on my Apexes than I have on my Winder.
Broken and leaking oil tank
Leaking running board coolers
chaincase gasket
ground block short
broken headlight tabs
Wheels
I will say I think I only had the...
