Went to install Bill Mohr spring and found my main spring loose and small spring broken. Seems like I am missing the lower spring retainer. Can someone post a photo of the shock and or tell me which part I am missing?

Thanks Jack

Need to find a bottom spring retainer in Maine ASAP.
Jack, are you in Greenville? There used to be a sled shop there right on trail,if I remember correctly, but it may be closed by now,you may have to wait till Jackman powersports opens Monday, unless they are open on sundays.

Thanks Pete. Yes Greenville we have had several sleds serviced with the local guy on the lake not far from here. We are going be waiting for Jackman Powersports at 9a opening tomorrow to see if they have part. Otherwise there are other sleds here I can ride. Hell maybe I'll rent a Ski-Donkey.

So it seems the the small spring broke at some point causing slack and letting the retainer at the bottom at the cross bar to come out. Judging by the marking on the bar sleves it was a last a few rides.

Bill Mohr spring installed. Way better. Especially in comparison to stock spring with no bottom retainer. By the way I now have parts from all mfgs on my sled. The Spring Retainer isna polaris part. $15 from Fox but $58 from local dealer in Polaris packaging.

The price one must pay to get back into the race huh.

Glad to hear that you are back up and riding.

Hi jack,so the long single rate spring you now have installed is called bill mohr spring,it looks a lot like the spring steve sells,as he is the main man I use to do my shocks, the shockdok,he is a member on here. (cannadale27) aka

Yesterday I was going down the trail full of two foot chop. It was rattling the fillings out of my teeth.
Stopped off the side of the trail and loosened up my center spring (160lb spring) two turns and got back on same trail.
It was day and night difference. I could ride one handed eating a cheeseburger if I wanted to.
Just that small of an adjustment must balance the hit from the chop further back on The rails so both shocks are springs take the load better.

I am very thankful for Jackman Powersports; they have saved my bacon many times. You just have to remember that when you are 15 miles from the Canadian border and a 100 miles from anywhere else, prices are at a premium.

Hey Pete. Yes Steve sells this spring. I got mine from Stingray mods since Steve didnt have any at the time. I like the spring. I add more pre-load before leaving this morning but I think I will go a bit. Cant say for sure how long but I rode for at least a day apparently with a broken spring and no retainer.

Ol Dave seems like a bit of a grump but Steve told me to check for Polaris or Cat so when I asked Dave to cross check he click click clicked for a while and then he said I think I have that here and got up to fetch it. I was happy to get the part and be back riding same day. He even cracked a smile when I asked him if he was sure about the price. The worst part was the 2 1/2 hour round trip. I found the part online without looking real hard for $52 so I guess it wasn't much gouging.

I took the transfer rod out completely and didnt feel I gained much and couldnt transfer noticeably more than with the max setting on adjustable Racewerx block. Currently trying stock bar only with heater hose.

Funny, my large spring broke this week on the same shock. 8000 miles. Put the Stingray spring on, will see what it does on my 3 day trip starting tomorrow.

Looking forward to your feedback on the Stingray spring.

It worked awesome in my daughters Viper so far this year. Tried putting her stock spring on my QSR3 resi shock but was too large dia and would rub. So pulled her shock out and stole the Stingray spring for mine and put stocker back in hers shhhhhhh.
