Dual rate Ohlins w/ PDS and titanium springs, check. Monoshock II RA 128" Suspension with a full manually adjustable Ohlins equipped w/ PDS, check. Time for some testing.
I've had better luck with Yamaha part # 8H8-47320-00-00. Kimpex produces it as part # 04-116-105 (hit or miss quality). These wheels are aluminum instead of plastic, and do not come with bearings/clips. My assumption is that the aluminum acts as a very effective heat sink for the bearing, and...
If your Apex was kicking you in the big stuff, the suspension needed tuning. The dual shock skids can't do it all, but I can make a Mono quell the big whoops and eat the stutters.
The Apex machines will crush the bumps when the suspension is set-up properly... the suspension is key here. Folks sometimes don't realize that lighter machines tend to deflect more than something heavier. The mass of that big 4 cylinder says I'm doing it this way, and if you don't like it, move...
Thanks, Chris. Looks awesome.
I'll be riding and testing this front end for the remainder of the season. When the snow is no longer rideable, I'll pull the front end and have a look at developing it into an actual product.
The ZX2 has a neat little feature in the G-force Shocks... that is a nice rise in compression damping for the last inch or two. It's effectively the same function that the Ohlins PDS creates on the Mono skid.... FWIW.
No, even at full tilt, it does not smooth out that much. :tg: Again, that was expected from this set-up. I can, and will, make it do everything well with a Mono skid equipped with an Ohlins PDS Shock.
I'm going to try a dual sport/crossover helmet shortly. It will likely be a Shoei Hornet, as my VXF-DT has been an exceptional product. The ability to wear goggles and close the shield over them should make it warm and fog free.
I don't have experience with the 144" skid.... and to be straight forward, have little desire to. :drink: I've grown tired of trying to make dual shock ck skids do what the Monoshock already does extremely well. I'm a broken record with this, but the Ohlins w/ PDS is it. Why reinvent the...
As mentioned, the Nytro uses a smaller diameter, Phazer and 2011+ Apex have the larger diameter.
I can build you some of these hd couplers, they have the larger diameter .... made them some years back for my Rage.
