    Off to Maine for season

"The signage is a mess around the B-52 site." You aren't kidding. We were so twisted up there a few weeks ago it was frustrating. Funny thing is four other groups were struggling at the same time so we had alot of laughs! Be up tomorrow but we will ride north out of Millinocket rather than...

Only 5 weeks without my sled this year

very true unless you are under warranty and the dealer doesn’t give you the parts and wants the work. That’s what happened when I needed new drive shaft. Luckily I tackled the problem in the off season

    SteveO Gone

Yes. That is top priority this off season. When we replaced my buddy's drive shaft we tack welded his tensioner screws. Unfortunately when my drive was to be replaced the dealer wanted it and wouldn't let us do us. I asked him to tack weld my tensioner screws but he refused.

    SteveO Gone

Probably not the best guy to weigh in here but here is my take. I have a winder and two of my buddies do as well. One has 8400 miles, another over 7,000 and I’m at 4,500. Except for the Helix’s on mine and the one with 7,000 they are stock sleds. All three have had the drive shaft replacements...

    New Sled 2020 sidewinder

Congrats. If they offer you the extended warranty for reasonable money I would do it. look at Barn of parts driveshaft wedge, fourth wheel kit also. Do the nickel anti seize on muffler bolts. Tunnel protector and picks. As mentioned Rocker Dans sled build covers everything. Check out ProLine...

Did I buy too much sled???

I think the apex is a great sled. I think you will get used to it and sometimes will love that extra boost. As mentioned The Vector is your step down. All depends on how you ride I guess. But as above, don’t get on a sidewinder!

    Need help with my trip.

Some nice trails there. If your there in mid March I would concentrate on the higher terrain if it gets warm. Up in magalloway and East. Can’t recall the name of it but the little restaurant right in front of Young’s is good for lunch. Dinner that place down by back lake is good but gets...

Ha ha Steve. After a couple trips down that way and you telling me never go there I get it. I’m up again 2/14 if you need a place to crash. Thanks for that assist last time I went to Brownsville....

Yamaha Poll: What Skis are you running on your Sidewinder?

Ha- I ran slim Jim’s on my curves and they were decent. Switched to double downs and much better. It’s all subjective based on riding style, snow condition and carbide. Some guys ( not naming them ) run with stocker tuners and snotrackers and swear by them. They ride hard..... I know guys...

Oil in the Airbox 2020 Sidewinder- watch for it

I have found that build up of white oil in the large tube behind my air filter every time I take the foam filter off - as has my buddy. Very simple to wipe out with a rag. 4,000 miles on mine and 7,000 on my buddies and it hasn't been an issue for either of us.

Barn of Parts Driveshaft Saver....Bearing Lock

Yes. Very simple to do. There is a guard protecting the rotor that you need to get off and you need to take shield off where your foot rides for wrench clearance. Whole process takes maybe half hour.

Was up there last weekend. Need snow. Some trails were very good some not. Hard to believe how much the snow pack varies.

    ice scratcher tip alternatives?

no doubt the spray they make up front does more than rail mounted. As far as ski damage I was saying glad I had Travis mounts. I’ve seen other guys who have made there own mounts that fasten directly to ski vs Travis breakaway on the bolt. Can’t see how direct mount on the ski would have been...
