Sorry to disagree. Here is a picture of both bolts. You can see that the threads do not mesh.
The 1/2 -20 bolt will thread into the crank by hand for a few threads only. The thread pitch is CLOSE but not exact. The Yamaha bolt will thread in much further by hand because it is the correct...
I have PB-80's on all three of my Vectors and they work very well. They are easily tunable by adding or removing weights in the pucks used to activate the clutch.
Only one caveat, though. The stock bolt to hold the primary in place is 12.5mm x 1.25. It is definitely an odd size. However...
Thanks!
It is the same bracket used to mount my home built light.
I try not to put holes in panels (especially expensive ones) if I can help it. The three holes were already in the side panel so it was a fairly simple matter to bend and shape a piece of lexan as a mount. Fender washers...
I made an angle bracket that mounts on the side panel through the three holes with plastic 'dart' plugs on the Vector. The light then mounts to a flat plate that attaches to the angle bracket with a single bolt so that it can swing clear if hit by a branch. I have hard wired a cable that is...
Does the sled start on its own or does it need a boost to start?
I am going to suggest that either a battery cable is loose or the regulator is not working properly. Had a similar issue with mine. Suddenly wouldn't start without being boosted and ran very rough at idle. At speed, engine...
I hear all that is being said about the Yamaha Cat prophesies and truly hope it isn't true. A true Yamaha sled would be my wish, maybe the Sidewinder power plant in an updated Apex chassis with EPS and Performance Dampers? Call it the SRX?
Whatever, just not only feline DNA and gaudy colours...
I have listened to music for years. I have used a variety of speakers in my helmet including a short stint with earbuds. I currently have Sena 20S speakers in my HJC CL16.
It is a bit of a pain (literally) to get them positioned so that they do not put pressure on my ears. I do not like...
I have upgraded the primary to a CV-Tech PB80. This clutch will not rattle anymore and requires very little maintenance. The one caveat though is that CV-Tech does not supply the correct bolt to mount the primary. They supply a 1/2 x 20 bolt and the Yamaha bolt is a custom 12.5 mm x 1.25...
Thanks for the post. I have been thinking of trying to modify my seat to do something similar. I would like to sit about 2 inches higher as well. I may need to look into the cost of shipping for the WRP seat to Canada. I expect it might be cost prohibitive.
My '07 Vector only started doing this in the last year or so. I have been choking the carbs as hibshman25 suggests. I came here today to look for a better solution and I like the idea of pressurizing the tank. Will have to try that this weekend.
That will work, too. However, I prefer to leave the bolt holding the secondary torqued rather than taking a chance removing it on the trail and losing a washer or over torquing the aluminum bolt and getting stranded.
To each his own. ;)!
