    Busted chaincase!!

Just spent a couple minutes at Eckland Yamaha parts. I wonder if Yamaha isn't privy to this issue. Check out what item #1 contains. That's an awful lot of parts for a 120.00 bucks. http://parts.ecklundmotorsports.com/oemparts/a/yam/53307294f870024560f03fc8/track-drive-2 Case, both bearings...

    Viper Trouble Free

1500 miles here and nothing that left me stranded. I get a P2300 code that nobody else does but so far its always cleared itself up. Havent had the reflash done yet. Only rode it two days this year. Changing out the wobble bearing next fall.

    Busted chaincase!!

Looks like the safe way is to change that bearing every other year. Yay. I wonder if any of this has to do with chain tension. Wouldn't think so.

Ride of the 2014 base model viper???

Just the normal LTX 137. Looks just like yours. Tall windshield, heated seat, standard shocks. Gotta be something hosed up with yours from the factory prep. Shock in the wrong mounting position? Doubt it but who knows.

Ride of the 2014 base model viper???

Ive got a 2014 LTX 137. Nothing special about it, nothing added or upgraded. Couldn't be happier with the standard shocks. I did soften them up quite a bit and removed the rear scissor stop blocks (if that's what they call them on this). 165 soaking wet

A little research revealed I may have an uncommon problem. Has anyone else had this?

    P2300 Code

2014 LTX DX. Not flashed. Since day one I have had an intermittent code 2300 alarm show up. Usually resulting from low speed riding, coming to a stop. Couple blips of the throttle and its gone. Hasn't really bothered me. Mentioned it to the dealer a couple times. They were clueless. Anways...

    Got the call- Reflash

Got a call from my dealer today letting me know they are ready to perform the re-flash. Supposedly we have until October 2015 to get it done. Kinda hate to be one of the first ones.

    Service Bulletins/Recalls

I took mine in last week. Service manager was knowledgeable. In addition to above I was also advised of a fuel pump relay issue that Yamaha is evidently replacing when they fail (as they should). Bummer is you have to either wait for it to go out (i.e, wait for it to die on an expensive trip in...

Going in for service - Typical issues to check

Im bringing my sled in for service and come up with a short list of typical issues that have been discussed over the season. Not looking for advice regarding mods. Just want to come up with a list to have the dealer check that would leave you on the trail. Please add to the list Warm start...

arctic cat issued the remap for the hot start issue today

I am bringing my sled in for service tomorrow. Can someone post a bigger photo of the arctic cat tech release I can show to the dealer? My guess is that they are going to be clueless.

    Find the viper

Dealer I bought my Viper from was kind enough to give me the poster hanging on the showroom wall. Can you find it?

Chain Tension - Again - Going in for service

Been out of the loop for awhile. Was an active participant with the original chaincase tension issue and was one that still believes to this day to back it off a 1/4 turn is too friggin tight. I think I settled on 1.5 turns to reduce the decel howl. Sometime after that I was at the local Yamaha...

    Viper mods under $100.00

Whatever it costs for the shims to fix your secondary to make a 8DN belt work. Anyone have an exact part number? Next would be gizmo sold at Rich motorsports that makes it easy to get your belt off. Btw....they have them for the viper now. Just got an email from Rich himself telling me so...

    Which to buy?

I came off a well sorted 09 Nytro (after throwing a fair amount of money at it), got sick of the firm ride and cold hands bought a LTX DX. My first off the showroom. Left it stock (sans carbides, battery tender, couple other minor tweaks) and had the best winter of my life last year. Spirited...

Anyone still holding their breath for the re-flash?

I was also pondering the Evol flash in regards to warranty. I have a month or two to make up my mind if I want to buy into the extended YES warranty. Its reasonably priced but still a good sized chunk of change. Would hate to be denied a claim because of it. Stopped at the Evol tent and spoke...

Anyone still holding their breath for the re-flash?

Talked with a Yamaha rep at Haydays. He says to expect a re-flash sometime in October or November. Don't shoot the messenger...just what he said. The guy was knowledgeable of previous issues. Clamps, exhaust, the reverse thing...

Anyone still holding their breath for the re-flash?

Got two recalls to take care of. Been holding off bringing it in thinking there was going to be additional recalls over the summer. No sense dragging the thing in twice. Turns out my assumption was correct. Now that haydays is here, its reminded me how close sledding season is. Will wait some...
