Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Thanks for replying. I spoke with the guys at Hauck Performance yesterday for quite a bit. They said they had seen three Vipers with this same issue. They attacked all three with a new steeper helix and the said it took care of the problem and improved shifting by quite a bit. I will report...

    Yamaha Viper demo days, impressions

I have a Viper LTX and a 2013 Doo Ren 1200. Both are excellent. The 1200 is one of the smoothest running sleds I have ever had. Just a wonderful ride. My Viper is a blast as well. Once I get it dialed in I think it will be even more enjoyable to ride. It is a great ditch banging sled and...

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Thanks for the suggestion CannonDale. What size weights would you suggest? If this does not make a difference I will have to look at that for an option. Like I stated earlier it over revs at about 9200. I need to get that down to about 8900ish so the limiter does not kick in.

anyone notice the black-n-blue machines on the Yamaha FB pg?

I love the black and blue. That would have been my choice.

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Yea that is what I was thinking. I'm going to wait for the parts and see what it is like after they are changed out. All in all, the sled is a blast to ride. Quick and handles great. When rolling down the trail you never experience the over rev. It is going to be super once I nail down thus...

    Rev limiter

Yes it does. Read this thread: http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=124482 Working with dealer now to come up with a solution. We think we might have it figured out but won't know for sure till mid next week. Mine cuts out twice when you nail the throttle. Only when going from...

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Thanks TJ. I will wait till the new parts come and see what the outcome is. Since there was no 5 on the helix I'm not sure what number I would use. All there was was a 0 & 3 and a 6 & 9. I do see a pattern. Logic would say going up to 9 would increase the degrees and going down to 3 would...

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

I agree. Here is what I'm going to try. I spoke with Hauck Performance today and he was familiar with the problem. He said he has a steeper helix and a different spring for the secondary. He said it will smooth it out quite a bit and will reduce the RPMs to about 8900 max. I ordered one and...

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Here is the morning update: I took it out on the lake and it still does it with the new belt on. I can see on the tach that when in soft snow and the track has little to no resistance it hits 9100 on the tach and that is only after the tach catches up because remember there is that delay on...

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

TurboJamie, Not sure how I can thank you but I think you may have fixed it for me via the internet. I went out and replaced the belt with one I bought last week and put the sled on the jack stand. No hiccup. I will know once I get it out on the lake and have a chance to really put it to...

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Complete stock. Any ideas you can share? Would love to smooth out the hiccup.

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

TurboJamie, Yes, the gage lags and takes a second to catch up and that is when the sled hiccups. What is up with that? What is the limit at?

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

That is good to know. I thought about over rev being the problem too. I'm glad others are experiencing the same and I'm not losing my mind. I can say that I love the sled and the way it pulls. It is fast and super responsive when one is already cruising along. It does not hiccup at all if you...

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Well. I got the sled back from the dealer and they were not able to fix the problem. They are not sure why. They replaced the pickup on the chain case and it still does the hick up when you get on it. It is really noticeable when you hit a drift and nail the throttle. It cuts out twice in a...

    A couple more finds.....

That is I first thought but no dice. Not sure where it belongs.

    A couple more finds.....

Yea. Do you see how the filler plug is cross threaded? This is the first time I took any of the panels off and this is how I found it. It only has 200 miles so no oil change yet. Was looking for other loose stuff and came across the oil filler plug. That is what I figured. Not sure where it...

    A couple more finds.....

I took off the right side panel to see what I could find since I have yet to really look into the sled. I have always figured you spend 13k and you should just be able to ride it and not have to check the whole thing over. At least it was like this with my Doo 1200. Here is what I found...

    VIPER REAR SHOCK BROKE OFF

That sucks. What a bad deal for those that bought and yamaha. I'm thinking mine will be on c list this spring.

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Where do I do that? I should at least give it a try. Maybe it will not do it while it is disconnected so one can truly see if that is the issue. I have the sled at home now while they ordered the parts. The parts should be in late next week. Thanks for all the info. Will update once I...

Engine Misfire - UPDATE - Over Rev

Dealer checked the TORS and did not think that was it. Ran over to the dealer and we put it up on the jack stand and when you nailed it the speedo would read zero but the track would be flying along. When the speedo would catch up the sled would hiccup twice and the speedo and RPM would read...
