As a side note; my attention has turned towards extending my range and getting maximum mpg while cruising/touring. And I believe I've hit the mark. My sled is now achieving 15.5 mpg at light throttle, and based on a 10.2 gal capacity puts me at 158 mile range. Although I would never try to push...
Ok guys, still on my trip in the UP. Speed run over, saw 132mph on the speedo. 115 gps. That's all she had and no more. 2 mph improvement over shorter gearing, and a personal best for the sled.
Strangely enough the thing is a rocket to 125mph. Then hits a wall. Not sure if it's clutch setup or a...
I have the fox float R's on my 06 and run the air around 95 psi. The a-arms are slightly "up-hill" at that setting.
The long held belief is that many wanted their arms parallel for less inside ski lift. IMO slightly up hill is better for more travel and better shock action/control.
There's no...
I'm not sure if I can share my maps. Not trying to be a jerk but I have a great deal of money and time (including dyno time) getting my maps to the level they are at.
It's not fair to me to just provide them freely when vendors charge money for their maps that are no where close to what mine...
Good info Bob.
25/40 is slightly shorter than stock gearing. I'm guessing your attack clutches aren't cut for O/D. That means you had to be turning around 10,800 rpm's to achieve those numbers.
With my setup making peak hp at 10,400, I'm spinning a bit lower. Which means slightly taller gearing...
Ok guys, reviving this very old thread for the nth time. Tentatively heading for the UP next week. I'm sure I'll be hitting my favorite stretch of long flat road. Provided it's in the usual condition.
I have went back to stock gearing (24/38) from my previous 24/40 gearing and slight O/D clutch...
When's the last time that you changed/inspected the spark plugs. I've seen cases where the plug caps get that white corrosion and barely fire, or do not fire.
Pull all the caps and inspect for the dreaded white corrosion. And may as well clean/replace the caps/plugs if they haven't been replaced...
I just recently received the latest edition of Snowest. They did a comparo of the 2 sleds but, really didn't talk much about relative performance. Other than to say they BOTH have great power. How lame!!!
Guess they don't want to ruffle any Doo feathers.
The facts/truth always comes out eventually.
Give Rotrex a call. They may sell replacement parts. I believe there is also a company that inspects/rebuilds those units. Don't recall the name at the moment.
Google may help.
Hey G did you end up adding a tunnel extension? Could you post a pick from further away? I want to see how it looks with the longer skid/track compared to stock in relation to the snow flap.
I agree with beanie, run it this year, unless it would really start to come apart.
IMO the rip II is the best all around trail track for a shorty Apex, followed by the original rip I. If you are doing a lot of off trail riding, then I'd vote for the cobra.
Are those hollow or solid? Can't remember ever seeing anything like that on an Ape.
The 2 ends closest to your wrist appear to have a similar angle "break"?
Are they possibly the same piece broken in half?
