Good write up on a 15 Viper demo ride in Anchorage yesterday. Considering this guy normally rides Polaris Pro's, it's a good endorsement.
The post and responses can be seen at Backcountry Rebels in the Alaska and Yamaha sections. He also posted on Snowest in the Yamaha section.
2015...
I know Ulmer Racing sells them. Go to their website (there's a link on the main TY4Stroke page in the preferred vendor section) and click on gearing.
Hope that helps.
Allen, how did your trip to Whitehorse go? You said that you were able to find a sled. What did you end up riding? How was the snow?
I don't know when you went, but here in Juneau it got real warm in January and we lost a lot of snow. Then it got cold again and the wet snow refroze and was...
A few years ago I asked the same question of a friends father who has been sledding in Southcentral and Interior Alaska for about the last 40 years.
I have been losing my far vision since my late 30's and can't see much detail beyond 20 feet or so. This is less than ideal when sledding in...
I posted in RS/RX Mountain first, but since there isn't a whole lot of activity in that section, I thought I might post it in Yamaha General as well in order to reach a larger audience.
Sorry if I broke any of the site rules. I was unaware of the rule and won't post the same question in two...
Glad to hear that you have a sled lined up.
A friends brother rides with a group in Whitehorse and I was going to make some phone calls to see if I could round up a loaner for you. Looks like that won't be necessary now.
For what it's worth, I really like Whitehorse. A lot of good people...
Nice setup givemeabost.
A friend was trying to get me to do something similar (he's a Ski-Doo guy, but I still like him in spite of his character flaw) but I didn't think it would look good. Guess I was wrong.
I did something similar to this except with aluminum flat bar.

Here's what I want to end up with. Really sharp setup.

I can't get the pictures of my sled to upload since the...
It depends on what kind of riding you intend to do. If you are trail riding, the RX would be my choice. For mountain riding I'd go with the Vector.
I'm partial to the R1 engine, but I have spent some time on a Vector and they aren't too bad in the mountains. The Vector engine is rated at 120...
SMOKNZ,
Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am having similar problems with my RX1 and was thinking that it may be an electrical issue. I have removed and cleaned my carbs and bypassed the TORS and it still stumbles and backfires above about 4K rpm. I was looking into new coil packs...
I bought an Apex Mountain axle and drivers with anti ratchet drivers. I think I'll be okay there. I was just wondering if the track adjusters would be able to take up the extra slack of the 153 track.
