Newbie
Hey everyone. I need some advice. I currently have a 03 rx1 with 4800 miles on it that the previous owner extended to a 136. It also has a 2 inch handle bar riser, hand gaurds and an 1.25 inch ice ripper track. I have a friend that has a 05 rs vector mountain with 3700 miles that I think I can get into for about the same money that i can get out of mine. My question is would it be worth go to the vector?

It depends on what kind of riding you intend to do. If you are trail riding, the RX would be my choice. For mountain riding I'd go with the Vector.
I'm partial to the R1 engine, but I have spent some time on a Vector and they aren't too bad in the mountains. The Vector engine is rated at 120 hp, but it has a lot of power down low. It feels about like a RX1 Mountain on the low end. The RX has far more power at the top end, but it's heavier. Not too much of a difference until you get stuck. I've been stuck with both, and when getting unstuck, the Vector is more manageable.
Since your RX is a 136 with 1.25" paddles, I assume you mostly do groomed trail riding. I would recommend keeping the RX if the condition is the same and you are happy with it. As I stated earlier, I am partial to the R1 engine.
I don't have much experience with short track RX's but know that they are faster and have more horsepower than the Vector. We ride ungroomed trails in Interior Alaska every December and both the RX1 Mountain and Vector Mountain perform well. With the hip deep powder we ride on, I couldn't imagine trying to ride a short track version of either. In fact, I'm planning on going with a longer track on my RX in order to stay on top of the powder a little better. They trench like crazy in the fluff if you lose speed and a 151 with my big a$$ on it (I'm over 300 pounds) has trouble staying on top of it.
That being said, unless you plan on mountain or back country riding, I'd stick with the RX provided you're happy with it and they are in similar condition. That engine is rock solid and has about 30 more horsepower.
