Why does it have to hang with 850's? I've always felt the 135hp class was a nice sweet spot for alot of trail riders. Sure HP is fun, but at the end of the day I personally still fall back on the efi 3 cylinder controlled by Jap ecu as my favorite all around motor for reliability, fuel mileage...
It appears in recent years that Yamaha is really letting the Viper die out. Cat no longer offers the 7000. I'm hoping while cat was working on the catalyst platform Yamaha was busy making a viper replacement motor that fits the new chassis. Beings they did not offer EPS on Viper yet also leads...
Not sure on the moutains, but the trail clutching is very smooth with low engagement. Maybe you primary has belt debris in it and its hanging up. Take belt off and the primary cover and see how easy it is slide the sliding sheave in and out.
Just worked on mine this afternoon. Starter was locked. The magnets broke loose inside. Swapped starter out and good to go. I did it by just removing the front motor mount bolts and then using a ratchet strap hooked to a beam I raised front a motor as far as it would go before oil pan hits...
I just bought the same sled this past weekend from a customer. Starter worked fine when we unloaded it. Parked it in shop and have not been able to start it since. Same conditions you are having and I suspect its the starter. Have not been able to dig into it. Kinda stinks as I didn't buy it...
With a few reported leaky gaskets lately yesterday I decided to test a gasket from current stock just to see if there was any noticeable issues. I did not change suppliers but that doesn't mean material integrity may not have changed. Had no issues during my testing and put 50psi of pressure to...
06-10 apex are same. 08-17 vector panels are same except the left side panels which are specific to either a 3 cylinder or 4 cylinder due to clutch height difference between the two
I like semi aggressive best personally. I tell guys that insist on the agg that you always have to be on your "A" game in the corner with aggressive. If you get lazy with aggressives they will get even the best of riders. The semi are much more forgiving if there is some push and then bite...
I will be curious to see if your 23 resists wear with no measures taken to prevent it.
This morning I put a driveshaft saver in the new shaft. At 20 ft lbs it was starting to put some drag on the bearing when I tried to slide it off. 25 ft lbs it was snug and I could hold the drive shaft by...
Starting in 22, driveshaft was rumored to be improved. My 22 did not appear to be, and I have seen at least one 22 shaft that was eaten up by bearing. The 23's have a new part number and all the 14-22 shafts appear to supersede to the new number. These updated -10 shafts were in stock so I had...
Sounds good. I just had a report from one customer that said the set screws came loose after a 60 mile ride despite being loctited. I have never locited set screws on the Japan model speedo bearings so bit surprised by this. Those running the new bearing…check your set screws after some run time
I had been giving it some thought since I picked up on the fact that new drive is belt. I'm envisioning a shut down of engine when reverse mode is activated, and then an electric motor that engages with belt for reverse function. With drive by wire tech these days, there should be no reason the...
I really have no desire to ride a 2 stroke sled again, but will likely order one to get a head start on the chassis with hopes that Yamaha gives us a 4 stroke option in that chassis. Even if 998 stays in procross maybe some catalyst upgrades will find their way to procross. Turbo motor is...
