Rainy day project. Ready to change that track now

I doubled up a couple 2 x 6's on edge over three trusses as well. I also took a couple extra 2 x 4's and tied them into the top of the truss as well. I'm pretty sure it will carry some serious load. More than anything I will ever lift for sure.

Rainy day project. Ready to change that track now

Ha! I did the exact same thing in my garage a couple of weekends ago. Didn't find any treasures up there though. It sure makes pulling the skid a lot easier. ;)!

    09 MTX Skid Idlers

I'm going through my skid and have a couple of idlers that need to be replaced. Looking the the fiche, the front shock idlers have different part numbers than the rail idlers. Looking at them, they all have the same diameter, width and bearing. The two on the front shock are more rounded off...

What's your opinion on yamaha's step?

Wasn't there some talk of chassis consolidation? I think they have too many now to support and develop. However, I do think they need a mountain specific platform. They would really have to bring something special to the table for it though. Having a 4 stroke up front is a weight penalty...

    2012 AK sled build

Ouch! At least you didn't hit by any of the pieces. #$%&*

    2008 nytro mtx

Did you have issues with hyfax wear on the Power Claw? I'm running the track looser than I did with the Maverick and I'm burning sliders up like crazy again. Even with scratchers.

Nytro MTX as a trail sled

Once I got the track lubrication issues under control with scratchers it was actually a better trail machine than I thought it would be. It will lift the inside ski fairly quickly, but it's predictable. It turns well an I have no darting issues either. Where I don't like it is in untracked...

    Is it just me or??

The five year old engine in a three year old chassis being light years better than anything Yam could bring to the table speaks volumes in my books. Maybe it's just me, but I always took pride in doing my own homework. I never had to pay my classmate to copy theirs. ;)! I do think you...

Don't demo a polaris switchback assault

I made the same error. I rode a 13 Pro RMK, a 13 XM and my MTX back to back. Fell in love with how the Pro handled. It is sooo much easier to ride off trail. I'm not a high mile rider, so I think I'm going to take the plunge and go buy my first non Yamaha sled.

    YAMAHA - EASY WAY OUT

I think Yam moving production would be a big positive. Designing, testing and manufacturing sleds on the other side of the world from the primary market does not make sense. I also feel that the Japanese are very inflexible in their ways about how things need to be done. AC, Polaris and BRP...

Interesting take from OnSnowMag of the new Viper

Yamablog said Cat electronics. Makes sense when it has the Cat display. Might not be bad IMO. Seems like the 1100T engine management was quite well done. :dunno:

Canadian Vs. US Pricing - They've Done it again......

DING DING DING! Manufacturer's have the right to charge whatever they want for the product. Traditionally, the prices have been higher in Canada for a bunch of reasons. Even though the major reasons have disappeared, they continue to try and get the premium. (It's pure margin and looks...

    2015 YAMAHA SNOWMOBILES

Almost nobody wants the Nytro motor in a mountain sled without a power adder, so I doubt they would sell very many. The M8 will be lighter and have more power.

    Can it take a beating

The cast brace that holds the secondary side jack shaft bearing seems pretty light duty for all the chassis and drive line forces it will see. Lots going on there. edit: Looking at the A/C pics, the Viper brace is quite a bit beefier than the Procross. :drink:

Yamaha's Involvement With The Procross Chassis

That sounds plausible and would leave one to think that Yamaha motors in Cats is only a stop gap measure until Cat's in house motor program matures. I wonder how long 5500 will last? A years supply or two or?? It will be interesting to see if there are subtle differences between the AC and...

Just Another Day On TY....Oh Was It Different

CR's blog stated jackshaft is new, but from a Cat supplier. ie: hopefully better than the one that has been breaking this year on the cats. Never heard anything on the gears and chain case, but obviously, those are Cat items as well.

Just Another Day On TY....Oh Was It Different

CR blog states exhaust and electronics are Cat designs. Yamaha is supplying a naked long block, and the primary and secondary, that's it. Good bad or otherwise, the rest of the sled is Cat's baby. To think that Yam is suddenly going to hold magic power over Cat's assembly line and process is...

    2014

But no Zuk two strokes or NA 4 strokes for 2014? I'm actually pretty interested to see what they have ready for their launch. Might make the Yammy release look pretty tame. :drink:

So with all the hate- What brand are you leaving for?

Hopefully they build a normally aspirated Nytro powered M sled, then all you would have to do is turbo it. Or, just buy the 1100T High Country and hope she holds together. My bud has one and it ran flawlessly until 1500 miles. He's been having clutch and belt issues after that. Loves how it...

So with all the hate- What brand are you leaving for?

Gotchya. ;)! Back on topic, Polaris Assault or Pro-RMK for me! My Nytro is still in my garage, but I'm thinking not for much longer. I don't ride that many miles and the Poo 800 seems to have come around reliability wise. It's such a fun sled to ride. I've waited too long for...
