To me, it really looks like this is just a temp home for the Nytro motor, and a band-aid in Yamaha's lineup. OSM does not like the Cat brakes VS the Yamaha, the guage pkg is a little suspect looking, and it is using Cat fuel injection system. Which makes sense because all of the wiring must be all Cat spec. The handle bar controls, guage, fuel injection- also they say it has only been in the works for less than two years?

I see the article also mentions (at the time of writing) that both companies will be using their own clutches. Yamaha using the YVXC and Cat using their 6 post setup. There is a thread here in the Viper section with people disputing this, claiming they will run the same clutches, probably Cats. After the past couple years of complaints about premature belt wear on the Cat clutches, I don't know why Yamaha would use them.

One of the nicest things on a Yamaha is its ultra-precise fuel injection w/instant throttle response. And the Viper will have a Cat system? How pathetic. Despite the Yamaha marketing glitz & the empty words about 'quality', this is not a 'new' sled, this is an upgrade to an existing Arctic Cat. Yamaha really blew it.

Wow, that would suck...lots of things still up in the air on the new Viper. It should have been the Cat chassis only, and everything else Yammy, including electronics, chaincase AND fuel delivery....

My dealer told me Yamaha is using their own clutches fuel injection and wiring harness and cat will be using their own

It mentions on yamaha site that it will be yamahas fuel delivery system? Maybe thTs just the actual fuel injection system and not the electronics?

Yamablog said Cat electronics. Makes sense when it has the Cat display. Might not be bad IMO. Seems like the 1100T engine management was quite well done. :dunno:

I here that.....I get all pumped up then I here that Mindanao stuff and it scares me...I reeally hope it all yamaha elect, fuel injections, and wire harness .....I will ask when I go to the test ride.......I really want one but some info I hear just scares the ship out of me

those who are concerned should be...theres a majority of cat stuff in there...including cat labor...and coming off a 1100 turbo I can tell you the quality dropped considerably from say an 11 z1 turbo...in saving weight ...they replaced a lot of stuff with r.o.c. stuff...cheaply built and poor tolerances everywhere..

"The Genesis High Performance engine uses Yamaha’s advanced fuel injection system to control fuel flow to the engine. Consumers will enjoy the engine’s spot-on performance and throttle response as a result of the advanced electronic fuel injection system."

This is straight off yamaha's official website under the performance tab for the srviper models!

"Specifications, appearance, and price of product are subject to change without notice."

Also straight from Yamaha's website.

With that said, all of the promo material and even the website showed my 2006 RTX with an UNPAINTED tunnel....but they came with painted tunnels. Which I am glad!!

:yam: :nos

Maybe Yamaha needs to release a very detailed spec list part by part who is supplying what right down to the last bolt. What a can of worms this is getting to be.
