    Regulator/Rectifier

I finally got my money back from FortNine for the defective regulator. Took awhile but nice to see FortNine cares. Meanwhile I was looking to get the Yamaha regulator from the local Yamaha dealer, they wanted $388.00 for the part and would have to bring it in from the states. I came across a...

    Regulator/Rectifier

Thanks for the replies. maim I have a grounding wire from the rectifier to the engine block, I did the stator ohm test and it looks fine, although it’s hard to get exact ohm readings with my multimeter (maybe time for a FLUKE).I checked the ground wire (and other wires, e.g. battery leads) for...

    Regulator/Rectifier

My 2007 VK Pro regulator rectifier burned out early January with about 4,500km on the machine. I replaced it with a Kimpex HD regulator. It lasted 340km and already burned out yesterday. In January, I checked/tested the all charging components (stator, battery, regulator) and found the stator...

    Intermittent starter problems

Update. The starter clutch started acted up again last week and finally stopped working at all on Sunday. So I pulled the clutch assembly apart and found it was worn, I need a new one-way clutch and idler wheel. The pulling apart was quite straight forward. Now I’m waiting for parts.

    Intermittent starter problems

Just wanted to give an update and thank Maim and YukonMP for their advice. I changed the engine oil to Yamalube 0W-40 (YukonMP: I know Mobile 1 is a fine oil but I didn’t want to take any changes with a 3rd party oil at this point). So far so good. Looks like it might do the trick. It starts...

Any recommendations for a good engine oil for the VK in cold climate, operating in weather down to -40 C?

    Intermittent starter problems

Thanks for your help. I haven’t tried that. I’ll try it tomorrow. Also I’ve now found some post that changing to a different engine oil can cause slipping. I just changed the oil to Shell Rotella T6 0W-40. Maybe another possibility. Rotella is as HD Diesel engine oil but I use w/o any...

    Intermittent starter problems

I have intermittent starting problems with my 2007 VK professional. Typically it starts fine at the beginning of a day out. After riding the sled and stopping the engine and having the sled sit for half an hour or more and I turn the ignition the starter just spins and doesn’t engage. All I can...

No start after summer dead instrument panel

I got the machine started. What worked for me in the end was opening the front of the air box and spray ether start fluid while cranking the engine. It started after the second try. I let it run for a while to warm it up. We don't have quite enough snow yet tho go for a ride. Thank you all...

No start after summer dead instrument panel

Thanks for the helpful tips. I did go easy on the starter so I'll give it an other try and be more patient(and persistent). Yes I checked the kill switch. So it's OK for the instrument panel and the check light not to light up until the engine fires?

No start after summer dead instrument panel

My 2007 VK professional won't start after being stored for the summer. There is no sign of life on the instrument panel, no indicator light coming on, nothing on the display. The engine is turning over fine when I turn the key to the start position, but it won't fire up, nothing (I follow the...
