I'd say go for it. Order a new chain and go with 18/42. Alot of fun climbing and working the trees. Get yourself some adjustable weights like heavyhitters and dial back those rpms. Heavyhitters work great in these machines.
I need someone to post there Apex mountain heavy hitter setup.
48 gram base weights.
I have
3/4 allen heel
7/16 and 2 thin washers mid
7/16 and 2 thin washers tip
45 straight helix and 70 degree white spring. Stock Primary Spring. 162 camo extreme track.
Pulls 11,000 RPM...
If you can find a apex mountain tunnel you will be much happier. The 16 wide track from the apex mountain takes some extra work to get under the rx1 tunnel. Not to mention you need 3 pitch drivers as well.
Anyone want my M series Exit X1 Zbros Shocks? Center shock is X1 dual coil. The rear is X1. Takes this skid to a whole new level of comfort. $600 for both shocks. PM me.
With that 18/40 gearing you are going to spin track and slip the belt into the secondary pre mature. Tighten up the secondary 10 degrees. Maybe more. Your rpms will come back. You will also eliminate that boggy feel when you hit deeper snow as the clutches will work better together.
I am running a 2008 float sno pro skid. Originally it was a 162 but i bought the 2010 141 crossfire rails and bolt it up. I took out the fox shocks and found a set of used zbros. Very comfortable now. I'll try and grab pics. It didn't take me very long.
What I did is removed the stock outside plate. Picked up some aluminum and made the plate bigger to extend down. When you drill the bottom hole you actually drill through a cooler bracket. Which actually makes it pretty strong. You could make an extra bracket for the inside if you are...
RX1MPete. Ya lower the front mount down an inch and your transfer will be back. These cat skids sit way too low in the tunnel for our high front ends. I didn't notice any extra trenching as I lowered the front spring pressure as well.
Sled Dog. I installed the 41 inch holz a arms...
It is quiet in here. I know these sleds are still running strong. My 03 still makes me smile. Still the funnest sled to mod. Just keep chalking up miles. Love this engine.
Mods for this season included:
- Wildchild rider forward
- ditched the simmons gen IIs for yamaha mountain...
rx1 heavy hitters
You basically have the same setup as my sled.
Set your secondary with the silver to 6-2 - 80 degree.
primary load the heel to the heaviest.
middle 7/16 bolt and thin washer.
tip just 7/16 bolt - right now i have 3/8 bolt and 2 thin washers. Just tweak the tip...
You will have alot of problems getting the sled over with gen IIs. I sold mine and went with the stock yamaha mountain ski. Much easier to get the sled over and hold a sidehill. You need a ski with a deep keel to work with these 4-strokes on a mountain.
My brother has the timbersled front arms and was running 120psi. It was stiff. I talked him into buying fett brothers air canisters. That should help alot. I would recommend for you as well.
Search for the geo mod on snowest forums under the m series.
I find the best way for searching is to use google.
example:
geo mod site:http://www.snowestonline.com/forum/
Basically it puts the fox shock in a pre loaded postion and allows the suspension to fully collapse. You can...
How does your ride on top of the snow? I know this is hands down better at getting on top of the snow then the pro action. With the skid pushed forward your stuck with the bad approach angle. Give or take I guess.
