You don't have wheels under the sled when testing do you. Not trying to offend but they act different if you push down on a sled thats on the the dolly's.

If it doesn’t move freely with no springs I would check the bushings and sliders.

On my friends Venture his shift lever was so bad it would hardly work most to the time and when it did it was a fight. I sprayed the whole thing down with some white lithium grease in a aerosol can and it has shifted smoothly ever since.

Check your speedometer sensor as well
