Check your front limiter straps. Mine came pulled almost all the way up to try and save the hyfax. It was way squirrelly in the rear end. Let it most of the way out and even on hardpack it just hooks and goes. I also have the mpi transfer kit, but getting some of the weight off the skis will...
Pick up or order the latest issue of SnoWest magazine. The current issue has the Deep Powder Challenge. It also has a good write up on the phazer mtn lite. The basic consensus was that the skidoo's were in the top spots. Surprisingly the 800 climbed better than the 1000 in most cases. The Apex...
Someone posted the link to the Japanese yamaha site a while back. Poking around there I saw a production number of only 600, but that seems awfully low. Another number I saw was 13,000 but don't think that it was linked to the phazers. Isn't annual unit sales for all manufacturers around 120,000...
The point that alticity is trying to make is that it seems like yamaha bills their moutain sleds as the ultimate in their class, while in reality the weight issues make them also rans. Most everyone I know is not riding a stock rx-1 mtn. I am a little peeved at the time and effort (not to...
Ride your summit until the phazers are on the used market then throw on the mods. As long as everyone keeps the cry up for lighter, more powerful sleds 4 stroke sleds, the manufacturers will have to take heed sooner or later.
80 hp is plenty of power for this sled. Yes, the price level is up there. If you look around, houses in some places are almost double what they were 5 years ago. Is the sled everything we were hoping for? Probably not. But its a pretty good start for a light entry 4 stroke sled.
A couple of...
Frosty,
I'm not much of an atv rider but the general impression I got was very similar between the two. The PML has taller steering than some of the other models but I still found myself leaning forward a little bit. I'm 6'4" so may feel different to shorter people. The narrow seat and tunnel...
I'm going to say no to the 15" on a regular phazer. I didn't actually measure, but it looks awfully tight. As far as weights go, did anyone notice that the venture lite is nearly 100lbs heavier than the mountain lite yet the RS venture is only 50 lbs heavier than the vector mtn. I am going to...
MPI remaps the computer for their apex s/c. According to Full Throttle Powersports, it is still too rich. It's accounting for some of the lousy mileage on the blown sleds. Sounds like MPI is working on a new map.
Short of changing the dimensions around the front suspension, there is no room for a super charger. A rear mount turbo is about the only way to go. The real question is if this were any other manufacturer's entry level sled, (i.e. trail RMK, Summit 500, MC 500) would you go to the trouble to...
Yes, the shorter versions will top out at 80 mph. There may be some more speed in the clutching on the mountain lite but keep in mind rx1 mtn's top out around 85 it seems like. My old 700 RMK was hard pressed to get past 75. My impression is that on trail, the phazer will hang with just about...
Just got back from the Monte Cristo demo. Have to say I am really impressed with the 07 lineup. They only had the mountain sleds there so I really can't judge any of the trail equip. Was my first time on the apex so that helps being wowed. Rode both an 06 vector and apex, and then both in the...
It's one direction or another. Camshaft has to be different for L or R rotation. Its been done with boats for years but the engines are purpose built. Lots of other geometry is taken into consideration. Theoretically with variable valve timing and a good programmed ignition timing system you...
You are absolutely right and each company has some really good sleds. Right now though, yammy is the game in 4 stroke sleds. I doubt if I will ever go back to a 2 stroke for my primary sled and I would love to pick up a phazer for my wife's next sled. It looks like a lot of fun. If one of the...
Go with the 141 ac skid. There are several good threads on this. Also several for lightening up. Do a search and you will find most everything you could think of.
Pete,
Have you checked with troy at rvsports.com? I would imagine he can find something given time. His prices were better than what the auction ended at.
Cool, I may go with the extroverts if I can find a decent price on them but its good to know they're not necessary. Let me know your impressions as you get more seat time on your sled.
