    Mobile 1 European Formula 0w40

I have been using Mobile 1 0W 40 since my first oil change. I use a Wix 51356 filter. It is the same as the 51358 listed above except it is slightly larger. I believe about 0.4 inch longer. Yes it will fit. It’s the same filter that is on my Mazdaspeed Miata. I went to the larger filter so I...

2016 Viper MTX 153 advice needed

Doing the math 22/48 gears will give you an additional 6 mph. That might not seem like much but if you intend to keep the factory tall lug mountain track, your goal of spinning that track at 90 miles an hour on stock horsepower is not realistic. New chains are expensive. 22/48 gears will allow...

pros and cons of this throttle setup

Throttle on top? I’m trying to visualize that. Driving with the throttle handle facing forward could be dangerous. In almost all forms of snowmobile racing that use ISR rules the use of a forward facing throttle is prohibited. The theory is that the if the rider looses balance and falls...

Sorry to see it end so soon. Post your favorite for the season.

Some of us are lucky enough to only have to wait a couple of months to get that next ride in.

I love those mornings when the frost is all over the trees.

    Help, any ideas??

As I recall it’s not that hard to remove the fuel tank. Empty the fuel tank out in to a clean 5 gallon bucket. (Or two) Slowly pour the fuel back off into the tank and look for water standing in the bottom of the bucket. Gas and water do not mix. The water is heavier so it will remain at the...

    Opinion on stingraymods clutch kit

I didn’t buy the Stingray clutch kit but I do have a set of the flat profile magnetic adjustable weights which I believe are made by the manufacturer as the weights that are in the Stingray kit. I’m going to say that so far the jury is still out. A flat profile weight is going to be less...

    Help, any ideas??

Or water in the intake. You may have ingested enough snow that it was able to get by the snow screens. Pull the upper pod and the air box off and see if you see moisture.

    Trail ridden MTX Heavy Steering

I trail ride a 141 MTX. I am a 75/25 on/off trail rider. I assume you have addressed the clutching and gearing. If not there is way more untapped capability in your Viper. The heavy steering is a well-known problem on the MTX and XTX Vipers. Easily corrected with a stiffer front skid shock...

Clutch weight - What would Macgyver do if he needed extra weight?

You were on the right track by going to the hardware store. I wouldn’t run a bolt without a nut on the other side with Loctite. The nut and bolt pictured in the photo is about 3.8 grams heavier than the heaviest rivet that Yamaha makes. It’s been several years but to my recollection they were...

    XTX 141 for crossover use

I looked through all of the emojis but could not find a face palm. I am absolutely convinced that you do not need the Hygear linkage to have a good riding 141 suspension. I am a strongly advocating that you DO need a high-quality adjustable coilover rear shock. Too many people buy the linkage...

Replacing a fox float3 on rear of viper stx??

Another option that is probably at a similar price point and would also be a significant upgrade: Send a photo of your damaged shock to Cannondale and inquire about upgrading to an EVOL. The damaged part of your shock would be replaced. Fox air shocks aren’t inherently bad once you step up from...

Replacing a fox float3 on rear of viper stx??

The Float 3 without an EVOL is terrible. The zero pro shock will be an improvement but it’s still a mediocre upgrade. It doesn’t have any clicker dampening adjustments. Spend a little more and get a QS3. I went another step up the shock ladder from the QS3 and spent $625 for a custom valved X2...

    153 on trail

I purchased the same SP1 sway bar quick disconnect as you did and mine lasted less than 50 miles. It broke in the same place as yours did. The word needs to get out to all of our TY brothers that this product is a good idea but not quite ready for prime time in its current design.

Is anyone doing viper performance ecu programming???

If I pull the trigger on a PCV I would definitely spend the extra couple hundred dollars extra to get the Pod300. I bet it’s nice to keep an eye on the air-fuel ratio in real time. I currently have the Straightline header and exhaust can. I have a stock airbox and I have not dared to modify it...

Is anyone doing viper performance ecu programming???

Other than the ability to raise the REV limiter, what are the advantages of an ECU tune rather than a Dynojet PCV? I’m not sure if I have ever seen any of the ECU tunes for less than $500. As of todays pricing, a PCV is $319 and free shipping directly from the manufacturer’s website. This...

Fox Float Evols - do I have this right for adjustment?

I can’t comment on the rear suspension. I am running coil over shocks in the rear. After a lot of experimenting and I am using 62 PSI in the main chamber and 110-115 psi in the EVOL in my front shocks. This is a substantially higher difference than the 40% that was recommended above.

2018 SW xtx 141 ride quality

There are only two advantages to the fox float 3. Cheap and light weight. For the most part I consider them to be a terrible shock package. When I bought my 141 Viper I hardly need to ride it at all before I put $1000 in to the suspension. $300 for EVOL kits for the front shocks and $700 for a...

    Looking to purchase Viper

The 2016 and up model years have an improved jack shaft assembly. However, starting in 2016 they have the weaker rods that will never handle a turbo. If you want a turbo don’t buy a Viper, find a Sidewinder. A Viper with an aftermarket turbo will never hold it’s value on the used market like a...
