You are thinking of the pre 2014 hp...the HO was closer to 155hp...and the new one is about 170...take it from super trax...not me http://www.supertraxmag.com/features/supertrax-ride-impressions:-polaris-indy-xc-850-129-pro-cc/n3528
I am sure just ripping down a trail or lake the more power makes it feel lighter and in real terms lbs/hp it is...hence the reason I would love a 150hp in NA Viper, it would make the Viper feel 50 lbs lighter even though it wouldn't actually be lighter and that's what I am saying....but I being...
Ski-Doo, and Polaris carry about 70% of all new sled sales...why??...They offer something new every few years not new shock packages on 10 year old equipment...and they fit a wider array of rides...we all know that Yamaha built...key word BUILT quality...now they build engines for Arctic...
If Yamaha doesn't blow my mind tomorrow...like they haven't since 05....I'm off to snowcheck a new 850 Polaris...waited long enough for Yamaha to admit they "weren't 100% correct"....( actually,WRONG).... by going totally 4-stroke...I will be buying the girlfriend a viper ltx...but I want more...
Polaris has a new video on their Facebook page...it's a new 2-stroke now is it a new 600 to compete with the new Ski-doo 600 or an 850 to compete with ski doo's 850...I'm betting a new 600 but the mountain guys said a month ago 850 was coming...we will soon see....
After the less than stellar Cat reveal An SRX with less track...less suspension...and more money....no thanks...oh it's got BNG!!!!....if this is all Yamaha can do ....please stop!!!!!!!!.....Buy cat or call it quits and just supply the motors and be done with it....gonna buy a new sled this...
II agree kids bikes are a big chunk of the Market...but the Machines you are talking about are trail friendly training bikes...the YZ65 is a race machine not allowed in a lot of riding areas...KTM sells about 180,000 units a year(total machines)...and they have about 30 different models...the 65...
Mini Bike motocross is huge??...Really...4 season...where the hell do you live...I am an ex-Yamaha mechanic from MN, mini mx bikes are a super small segment,...huge with one in 10,000 or more kids that live in the southwest of the U.S.A. The rest of the country...not much market even for big MX...
The funny thing is Yamaha spent the money on a new 65 cc 2-stroke high performance Motocross engine... Wanna talk small market???
..And not making 2 strokes??...A new YZ 65......Not a VK540...Or WTF they call that thing.
.This is actually new to Yamaha...Just sayin...
I think it would be in Yamaha's best interest to buy the Cat division ...assembly,manpower...and they have had their fingers in advancing/changing the assembly system at Cat...as far as Polaris making a 4-Stroke they bought a European...or was it German 4-stroke company a couple years ago...so...
I live just outside Detroit Lakes Minnesota, little town of Frazee MN, about 2 miles from a company named Fett Brothers Racing. They used to race Yamaha snowmobiles in Snowcross til 02' I believe, Now do suspension anf clutching and sell Talon tracks(Yamaha actually sent techs from Japan to find...
I just believe Textron was in the sled biz when it was pretty good( they owned Polaris for a while in the 80's) I think they just wanted the Side by Side with gas motors to offset their electric SxS lineup that is huge in the U.S for them ( Bad boy was on every hunting show on the outdoor...
My honest belief is Textron wants nothing to do with sleds...here is my thought...They bought cat because they want to get into the SxS... Gas market and changed the name...but they want to leave the sleds as ARCTIC CAT...because if the sell it you gotta go threw all the BS to get a name for a...
