We've hooked a tender to the jumper leads on our '03 RX-1 since new with no problems. The leads are quite heavy and have terminal ends with holes. Our '06 Apex ER has the same set-up.

Used some plumbing epoxy stick to repair our zerks and it worked great - no mess, easy to use.
