Hey guys, I know this is a little early!! But I have to order the Battery Tender now!!

Can I hook the battery tender up to the booster cable connections on my APEX??

I haven't pulled the rubber covers off to see what the terminals look like. Are they just flat with no holes?

If they are flat, then I guess I gotta use a battery tender with clamps...if they have holes then I could use the tender with eye terminals.

Thanks guys!

The maintance book or owner manual says "Don"t charge battery from jumper leads." I had my sled in for oil change last week and gave them the leads for the battery charger to attach to the battery while they had the battery exposed. Got the charger for Cmas. Also bought an extra set of leads for my wife's sled so I can use the battery charger on both and not have to mess with tearing the sled apart to get to the battery. Told the service manager they should wire all new sleds with the leads in them for the customers. A $3.00 or less lead cost for the dealer could lead to a $60 battery charger sell. Don"t think he understood what I was saying..... getting extra sells is the name of the game for a profitable business.

Excellent idea.... I will hard wire the eye terminals to my Apex later in the winter!!
..and I should actually hardwire the ZX9R too, it's in the living room, next to my couch..hehe

I Hook my Tender up to the + - terminals with no problems all summer during storage. They are there for the sole purpose of jump starting the sled so why would using them to charge the battery be any different? The only problem I can see is accidently letting the terminals touch each other. Just set it up so that cannot happen.

They probably have the holes , but to check just pull on the very end of the rubber cover and expose the end through the ready made slits, factory made for doing this without untaping them.

Thank guys!! Tomorrow night over some beers in the garage maybe we'll pull off my headlights and such, and install the permanent wires!!

We've hooked a tender to the jumper leads on our '03 RX-1 since new with no problems. The leads are quite heavy and have terminal ends with holes. Our '06 Apex ER has the same set-up.

Thanks for your replies guys...last night pulled the pod off and installed the wires to the battery for the Tender!!!
Drank a few beers too!!

Not sure Exactlywhere you got the info about not hooking the Tender to the jumper connections - THOSE LEADS GO TO THE TERMINALS THAT GO ON THE BATTERY!

I've used these connections for my Tender for 2yrs w/o probs. Why add another set of wires??? Just another failure point IMHO.

Yes, the booster leads have holes in them!!
I figured oh what the heck! My good buddy also showed me all the stuff involved in an oil change also while we were in there!!
So it was worth it to take off the pod for the first time!
