Check bearing nut, #19 in secondary sheave parts listing. Mine came loose years ago when I had my '08 Apex. Could hear a thumping at slower speeds and actually felt it in the left footwell.
my '08 had TITANIUM as OEM. Replaced with Excell headers(SS I believe) and they cracked. Replaced with Yamaha SS when it superseded the TITANIUM part number. Never had another issue.
I had a '99 SRX700, then '03 and '05 RX-1 followed by '08 Apex. Currently riding a '14 Vector I bought a couple years ago with 400 miles on it and I absolutely LOVE it. Better gas mileage than any of my previous sleds, POWER STEERING and I can stay with the bigger sleds unless it's a long...
Did you actually open up the airbox? Just trying to eliminate the simple stuff to check. Sounds like you've done the hard stuff and sled wouldn't run good before you took anything apart.
Well with everything you've done certainly sounds like carbs wouldn't be the issue. Been sitting 7-8 years, wonder if airbox or exhaust is clogged with something by Mice???
Make sure the bearing lock nut on left side of secondary shaft didn't come loose. Mine did years ago and it would bounce around the shaft as the sled was moving. I could feel it in the left footwell and hear it.
Maybe I'm not reading your post correctly. You would pay $25 for your club family membership, then $45 per sled to register. So if you're doing two sleds you'd spend $115. Still an enormous bargain to ride anywhere in the state except town of Webb trail system.
To the OP,
I belong to two local...
Didn't get a chance to take a photo of it after I bought it as close to dark. Here's the one from the guys listing. Sled looks absolutely like it just came off the showroom floor. Actually was snow on the ground so I was able to ride around his yard before closing the deal! I'll be taking the...
My 2008 Apex 40th anniversary has been great but with almost 19K miles I'm looking to make a change. I'm probably going to buy a 2014 Vector with only 400 miles! The guys wife is in her 60's and only rode it 3 times in Old Forge. The trails there are butter smooth so I'm sure the sled is just...
I would test the replacement element before installing to confirm the resistance readings are in spec. Friend of mine had his Yamaha left element replaced with the Cat one by a dealer I recommended he not go to. Left grip was subsequently not getting very warm on high. He went back for them to...
17,500 was planning to have 20K on it by now but with the last three winters poor for snow it made it impossible to accomplish.
Will just keep riding it, runs great and none of the newer offerings excite me.
