47.....Feel like 57 when I get out of bed, 19 when I get on a sled! Been riding 25 years, broken 9 bones, dislocated shoulder and numerous torn and ripped ligaments (most in the last ten years) RX-1 has only bitten me once. Does that mean I'm getting better? :?
But it's what keeps me...
jtssrx: See my post " Is Yamaha admitting to Jackshaft bearing problem".
LB: Jackshaft showed signs (color) of heat on both sides of the break. The metal also looked "crystalized". (Also think I saw a piece of a used rubber in there too) As for damge5.jpg some of the shrapnel hit...
No guys..nothing to due with earth's rotation but rather the magnetic Poles. Same principle as hurricanes and toilets spin clockwise above the equator and counter clockwise below the equator. Beings I'm in Alaska and much closer to the NORTH POLE, I can go 15-20 mph faster when turning to the...
Thanks for posting the pics Convert.
BBY, had a GPS at the time but close mountain peaks prevented us from getting a fix. Found it with "Dead reckoning"...and a lot of luck.
Will hopefully find out more this week on exact damage and cause. Then...what will be covered, and what won't...
Finally got my sled off the Glacier today :D ... Chopper Pilot gave me a break at $1,257.
Got to drive 350 miles to Dealer tomorrow.
Got some good pics of damage, but don't know how to post them? Can anyone post them for me? If so, what size should I make'em?

Convert,
So glad you were close to home. Yes indeed...you know they've got to know there's a problem with this bearing. Hopefully they do something about it before it causes a bad accident...or worst.
As for me, it's been snowing non stop since last Mon. Had the chopper standing by....but no...
You can check out Arctic Man at

During this week, this area (in the middle of nowhere) becomes Alaska's third largest city!! Lots of events, over 1000 motorhomes and 15,000 sledheads!!
Thx for advice Steve, I started a Journal that nite. I've also been advised that this is starting to get up into the $$$ that I may have to take possible legal action to regain some of my loss  Geez, all I want is my sled back...and running like she did! I still love this sled...
I have the Morgan Carb Tune....took about 20-30 mins. Pretty simple. Carb tune instructions made more since than the manual. After getting my sled back from dealer (carb deep bowl update) it idled like #*$&@. Threw the carb tune on her and #1 carb was way out. Dosen't seem to matter the order you...
After 2 days of endless busy signals... I finally got through to Customer Service (1-800-962-7926). Gave them all my info. and what happened. Asked them why Yamaha or my Dealer never informed me about a possible jackshaft bearing problem. Their answer......(hold onto your seats, your not going...

Is anyone getting this warrentied?
Wished I'd have checked mine...but with less than 3K, I didn't think this bearing could go.......but it did...with devastating results!
