    05' RX-1 MOUNTAIN

05 RX-1M I rode the prototype 05 RX-1M a couple of days ago. The machine feels very good indeed. Good track speed on the hills. The machine feels alot lighter. New seat and bars feel right. The rear skid felt excellent, good ride with great power trasfer, giving a good hook up under full power...

    Help with Clutching

Tundra , I enjoyed looking at the pictures. The 21 tooth does work better in the deep snow. Your engine is now reving too much ,this isn't from the gear change. I told you about my clutching set up, have you made any changes? I highly recommend the change to my clutch specs, for the clutch to...

    My mistake on facts

Buckeye you have thrown my calculations out the window. Why did they have to make that kit so powerful? Just kidding. Actually I think that the new rearmounted Turbo from MC-EXPRESS is the best kit to date. Because the gearing in my machine is very low, the primary clutch upshifts much quicker...

    05 Clutching RX-1 Mountain

Listen to Snow Fever, even something as small and cheap as a primary spring can have a huge change in machines operation. Sometimes bigger is not always better. Lets have a big round of applause for the little spring!! And like Snow Fever there is a person on this post who has laughed at my...

    My mistake on facts

I said in the posts that my gear ratio was 2.58:1 , that is correct for 8tooth drivers, because I use 7 tooth drivers the real number is 2.87:1. I also said that the top speed was 75MPH at 1:1 , this is not correct . Top speed is 65MPH at 1:1 , with a theoretical top speed of 78MPH at 0.80...

    TURBO CLUTCHING FOR THE MOUNTAINS

Spray, I know the feeling of wanting to ride, thats why we got the machines in the first place. After about 15 days in a row of tuning last year I was pretty much sick of it. All I know for sure is that no matter how well the clutch is calibrated it could always be a little bit better if you...

    TURBO CLUTCHING FOR THE MOUNTAINS

Am I speaking *())(** , or does anyone understand what I am saying? Who says that an RX-1 turbo requires a super high engagemant like a 2 stroke or a high spring rate. It is no wonder that you say that the clutch likes weight. Of the 53 or so primary springs that Yamaha makes the one that you...

    TURBO CLUTCHING FOR THE MOUNTAINS

Spray, I hope I wasn't giving you the idea that I want to through out your primary clutch, it sounds like its working pretty good still. I was just thinking that maybe a different spring might work even better. Something like a Green/Gold/Green (Yamaha short spring) with 5 shims. It has a 15KG...

    TURBO CLUTCHING FOR THE MOUNTAINS

Turbo clutching Spray25 I did read your post carefully, your RX-1 running at 10,800RPM is actually 9049RPM at the clutch, because the MM700 is a peaky motor , a high preload spring is used, with a high spring rate and a high total force. Yamaha has clutched the RX-1 like the engine is a 2...

    TURBO CLUTCHING FOR THE MOUNTAINS

Turbo Clutching I don't have a Turbo yet but I have rode one last season. I know what a turbo feels like to ride. These clutching setups that you guys are using all work, but the question I must ask all of you is why do you have the most powerful broadband snowmobile engine in the world...

    If RX-1 dont boondock, MC 900 1M and MM700 aren't better

Tundra , those are awesome low budget ideas to improve the performance of the RX-1 by Spray 25. I am a huge fan of low dollar mods. I drilled my brake rotor (free, and rotating masss), removed the rubber mat on top of the carbs, removed the snow deflectors at the front suspension, stabalizer bar...

    If RX-1 dont boondock, MC 900 1M and MM700 aren't better

Okay now I have a dyno sheet on the 03 RX-1 DEC 2002 it reads as follows 101HP at 7000 RPM , Yamaha claims over 145 at peak , I said I didn't have a dyno sheet at the time. Call me a liar 44 HP or more, not 50.

    If RX-1 dont boondock, MC 900 1M and MM700 aren't better

Low Budget Performance Yes Tundra the 21 tooth gear will work better than a 23. More torque multiplication, it is like free power from the motor. Geared even lowwer even better, but gears are fairly expensive so if you do ever gear it lowwer for more performance go all the way and save money...

    If RX-1 dont boondock, MC 900 1M and MM700 aren't better

Riding with the 800 and 900's I am sensing alot of anger and frustration in this forum with regards to the RX-1. Lets get a few details straight, first the stock machine came running like a stock 97 700MM with a 136 inch track. Secondly if changes are made to the sled they could be for the...

    05 Clutching RX-1 Mountain

05 RX-1 clutching The 8BU-10 weighs 45.41 grams which is about 24grams less weight per finger than the 03 was using. It is no wonder that owners were discouraged by the performance. I guess the motor isn't the beast that Yamaha thought it was. Meanwhile I have been using 8EK-00 which weigh 39...

05 Yamaha mountain sled perceptions. What's your take?

05 Mountain Sleds Yamaha has dropped the ball in the mountain segment. A stock RX-1 can't compete with the competitions sleds . The Yamaha's have less power and weigh more and are running on a track that Polaris was using in 2001. As a consumer I will not buy another sled that has to be worked...

    TEAM roller on RX Mtn

Team Clutch I am running a Team Clutch with the new Red/Black spring and a 34/36 degree straight cut helix in the 34 position. I have tried 6 or 7 different helixes and this works the best in my machine. Geared 19/43 with 7tooth drivers. Read my reply on clutching. Just came back from a ride...

    If RX-1 dont boondock, MC 900 1M and MM700 aren't better

Gearing and Clutching Tundra I ride in real deep snow of the B.C. coast mountains, were it can snow 5 or 6 ft per week.Believe me I know deep!! To ride in the deep stuff with a stock engine you need all the track speed you can get, and to achieve this a gear down is required. My machine is...

    WNP GP-1 Pipes

GP-1 exhaust My cousin has a Bender pipe on his RX-1 and I was thinking about getting a GP-1 exhaust , I was briefly talked out of buying it and proceeded to order the Bender. I waited 5 weeks , and they couldn't give me a shipment date, so I called the boys at WKP , they said the GP-1 was in...
