05' RX-1 MOUNTAIN

Yes it will. I noticed a big difference when I put a 6-pound lighter battery in my 03 mountain. The new skid is promising better weight transfer as well. I would think top speed won' t change, mine goes about 87 mph on GPS.

The '05 should handle better out of the box in deep snow than the '04. Main improvements for this are the wider skis for more floatation, angled skid for better transfer and manuvering, taller handle bars for better leverage. Reduced weight will help some, and it is yet to be seen how the new suspension will do. Don't know what top speed will be like. My '03 tops out at about 90 mph stock (gps), but I think they may have changed the gearing and/or clutching to improve rpm while climbing at altitude. This may reduce top end a bit.

I saw the sleds at the world expo in West Yellowstone, MT this week end. I didn't get to demo one because of poor riding conditions had the opportunity to ride the shorties, warriors, vectors and rage but passed because those are not feasible for my area. I read a quote from the Editor of Snowest Magazine and he said the '05 RX-1 mountain should be renamed because there was no comparison between the '05 ans its predecessors.

Politics

Editors of magazines tend to maximize the minimal, as every year there is a "huge" difference in sleds, when infact there is barely enough difference for the average guy to notice. Of course selling sleds is not the editors business, or is it??

For AMSNOW At the beginning of the season, all sled are top, but at the end, they all suck except DOO

05 RX-1M

I rode the prototype 05 RX-1M a couple of days ago. The machine feels very good indeed. Good track speed on the hills. The machine feels alot lighter. New seat and bars feel right. The rear skid felt excellent, good ride with great power trasfer, giving a good hook up under full power. Riding the machine in spring snow the skis felt very darty and unpredictable, I enjoy the ride of my Simmons skis alot more. Overall I was very impressed with the 05 prototype. I hope that is the way it will come to production. I wish that there was a 159 track option, and at least a 180HP engine like in the new R1 sport bike, with a Turbo model but maybe 06. Good work Yamaha on a much improved 05!!

Sounds just like my Powder Pros - but the trade off is worth it in my opinion for the increase in floatation. Maybe I should just throw my stock skis in the trailer and run them on the crusty days......

I thought the 05 RX1 was nicely improved but needs extrovert

I thought the 05 RX1 was nicely improved with the risers on the bars and the better side rails and skies are far better. But both the RX1 & Vector still needs extroverts as stock item in my opinion. the skies I Found to be Fine personaly I thought they look a bit ugly but they also look BOMB proof and with all the dirt and gravel I have seen lately they might last longer they are very thick and stiff like C&A but fat.
I felt the skies are awsome actually.
