Whitty,
You may want to check to see if the ice chunks caused any damage to the toop of your front pivot arm.
Take a look at this link http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=67479 .... Maybe an ice chunk caused these track spacer brackets to break off???
I discovered the loops (2x) welded to the Rear Suspension (front) pivot arm completely GONE. I've got about 900 miles on it so far.
I'm not sure how this could happen?
Any ideas...stud heads hitting? (nah)
see pics...
Re: ICe scratchers
Daranello,
You were 100% correct the scratchers are hitting, no damage (yet) they are coming off ASAP. When I put it all back together, I'll try & find a new spot & contact RSI...Maybe a different bend???
Thanks!
Re: ICe scratchers
Daranello,
I'm riding the XTX. You are correct as to the alignment to the upper wheels. I'm embarassed to say I didn't notice, when I installed them. I can say there are NO witness marks indicating the wheels & the scratchers have interacted. I will recheck the the...
Ice scratchers
Here's where I mounted mine, they barely fit.
They're RSI brand.
Sorry about the picture quality, I was holding the pieces, while taking the picture.
My shocks are being re-valved, this week.(SO the skid is disasembled)
Hyfax
Gibby...
I wrestled the old hyfax out, (thru the track window)and got the new one 90% on when it came off the rail (yes, I went slow & cautiously) it came off at the rear. (kick-up point)
So I pulled the skid out. Next time...I'll just pull the skid to start with.
XTX Skins bag
It's 14" crosscar, 12" fore/aft, 4" tall. It works great! But everything inside will get wet !!! Water comes in from the the exhaust at the bottom & melting snow on top. I relocated the tail light to the rear of the sled.
XTX suspension
I've put almost 1000 miles on mine so far. I can't begin to make the suspension work as I'd like it to. I've adjusted both Front & rear preload, compression & rebound. The entire system is HARSH! I've also inquired with several suspension shops...none of which had any "seat time"...
Tall guy seats
I have a new XTX coming (I used to ride Cats). I have raised the seats on all my sleds for years. I already bought a Nytro seat from a wreck. I'll raise it about 3-4 inches (75-100mm). I'm 6'4" with 36" inseams on my pants. The taller seats take a lot of stress off my back &...
A better question might be:
- How is the water getting into the sleds fuel tank?
The water usually comes from condensation in the air (in the fuel tank) If you store your sled with a FULL fuel tank (no air). There should be no condensation (water) in the tank to get absorbed into the...
I've done many saddlebag trips, some to remote areas, some to more populated areas (Like the U.P.).
There are a lot of great suggestions already noted.(above)
- Ziplocks are a must for anything u want kept dry and to keep toiletries from leaking onto other things. (bring extras too...wet...
I've hauled many a sled out of the woods (All brands). I believe the older Arctic Cat tow strap is the best I've every seen. It has 2 nylon straps. #1 is a double ended strap (loop on both ends). Which you loop around the "towing" sled rear bumper. And a second strap #2 which you feed through...
I'm new to Totallyamaha. I've riding green for the last 15 years (Yamaha before that). It takes awhile on a new site to find out who really knows what they're talking about & who just likes to make posts. I spend a lot of time reading, but don't make many posts. It took some time on A-chat &...
I just ordered a 2009 Nytro XTX, My first Yamaha since 1992 (15 Cats in between). I'd like to make the seat height about 3" taller. I checked BOSS & they hope to have something ready by fall. Has anyone raised their seats?
