My sled is an 2003 RX1 with reverse.
My jack shaft bearing on the secondary side went out and I need to repair it. I have done some searching on here and there's talk of an update. Well, I called my local dealer and they said that there is no update that they have heard of for the bearing holder (retaining nut or bolt). Does anyone have a copy of the service letter and or do you have the part numbers needed to complete the update?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I did get the old bearing out, I'm just waitng till monday morning to order parts.
Thanks,
Pierre

kaj,
I checked out snowmobileworld and all that I found was a service letter on the 3 cylinders jack shafts. I'm going to keep searching on here.
Thanks

just order the collar and nut from the 04 rx1, and if your dealer is not aware of this, you might want to find one that is.

Its not a recall or an update or a service bulletin. Its a PART DIFFERENCE between 03 and 04. The jackshaft bearing COLLAR is different in that it also has a big NUT to hold it onto the shaft. There were a (very very very) few of the 03 collars that slid out due to being held in only by loctite. You need to order the collar and the nut.

Thanks, I will order the parts (collar and nut) from the 04.
I have a choice of 3 dealerships near me and all 3 are lame.

I see that the jack shafts have different part numbers, did you guys change jack shafts to the 04 shafts?

The jackshafts are identical. Do not change your jackshaft.

Nice thanks for posting!!!
Remember to use locktite on the threads still, my Father had a recall on his 05 vector for the jackshaft, when they did the repair were guessing they didn't use locktite and the nut backed off the collar and took out the bearing and everything. Thankfuly we didn't have to drive/tow it very far and it didn't damage the frame housing for that bearing.
I'm going to update my 03 to this as well.
