03 RX1 electric shock throttle thumb ??

Just as the title says... Have an 03 RX1 that likes to zap the mrs throttle thumb when she rides it. It did it once to me as well while testing it. I unplugged the thumb warmer and it still did it. So my next guess is the TORS switch is shorting out? I had this happen on a cat years ago and it was the throttle overide switch causing it so I would guess that would be next to look at?

Anyone else had this happen? Thanx.

I would be looking for the shock coming from the spark plug wires. Never heard of this one before on a rx1. You could start pulling different fuses and ride the sled until you find the circuit that is causing the shock.

Is the steering post consistently grounded to the frame. Maybe you have a loose ground. Also, inspect the wiring in the steering area and handlebar area for chaffing.

Actually, on my last ride I had this happen 2 or 3 times...One seemed to be off the break lever and another time is was on the throttle side... I thought I had this happen last year too, but it didn't happen with any consistency, so I thought it was my imagination.

I'm also interested in suggestions as to where to look. I'll check over all the wires around the steering column before I put her away for the summer.....

I looked at the wires on under the bar pad and all looked to be on good shape. I thought it may be an issue with the thumb warmer so I unplugged the wires to that but it still did it. So I guess my next step will be to bypass the TORS wires and see what happens then.
