I was just curious how some of you guys with 03's feel about the 04 improvements.
Personally I think I got hosed by buying the first year out. Don't get me wrong I love the sled, but I'm annoyed about having to buy a swaybar, links, and springs just to get the thing to stay upright. The cornering sucked compared to my last sled (SX700).
Plus the track was inadequate, and the handwarmer thing is annoying too.
I think Yamaha should have ponied up and offered us early adapters something. They really hyped this thing as the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I've got to spend $600 just to get it where it should have been last year.
I know next time they come out with a new model, I am going to think twice before buying.
The quality and reliability are definitely top notch for a first year sled though...

I agree with ya man the term "Ultimate Performance Sled" means it should be the best handling as well as being a crotch rocket don't get me wrong cause I absolutely love this sled but compared to the handling of the viper in the twisty's it's not even close even with the links, swaybar and springs. Personally I think it just rides to high the viper sits much closer to the ground. My best bud rides a viper so i get to compare often he can't touch me under any other situation however this sled will walk all over his from start to finish.

How do you think owners of the '03 Firecat feel? It is the price we pay for being on the bleeding edge. I do wish that Yamaha offered an upgrade kit that packaged the handwarmers, links, swaybar, and track. But I am still a happy camper and would do the same if a new Yamaha model came out.

I have no regrets about buying it, but I think we should have been offered something, maybe a package with everything together for a reduced price. It definitely did not ride and corner as well as I expected.
Other than acceleration, I think my SX was more fun to ride. But the sound, no smell, and styling of the RX1 make up for it.
The guys that bought RX1's took a leap of faith with Yamaha and helped change the whole snowmobile markets perception of the 4-stroke. Long term this will probably benefit Yamaha more so than anybody.
Lets face it our early acceptance of this sled makes for a huge competitive advantage for Yamaha long term.
I think offering a reduced price upgrade package would be peanuts in cost compared to what we helped Yamaha do to advance the 4-stroke market.

Has anyone tried using Viper ski's the keel is only half as deep as ours and I would assume they would bolt right in? any thought on this subject? I know the deeper keel is supposed to work better in the deep stuff but when ya don't have any  would'nt it be better to have the shallower keel?

The part that troubles me is that dealers are selling the upgrades at a profit. I can live with buying the parts, but I can't live with the dealers making a profit on this. I went aftermarket on alot of upgrades for this reason.

Convert, I put the Woody's duallys on, this seemed to improve the overall feel, it eliminated the darting and seemed to reduce steering effort.

I really bieleve the 03 rx-1 owner got HOSED!!
Just like when i had my viper and i had to pay for the suspension upgrade becuase it rode like a brick!! $200
and then they wanted me to pay $80 for the aditional cooler because the POS would over heat!! What a crock!!
I love my warrior so far thought and will never own another sled without reverse!!
