Its been said that the '03 RX-1s had some rear suspension issues. Does that also apply to the '04s?
I was looking at specs for the 2 sleds on yamaha-motor.com and Ive noticed that the '03 RX-1 has "ProActionSXV" but the '04 RX-1 has "ProAction HC40".
Did the '04s cure the problems of cracking W arms and breaking transfer rods that the '03s suffered from?
Would I be better off to just pass up on an '04 RX-1 and just spend the more money for the '05 RX-1 or RS Vector?
Like I said, when the time comes my budget will be $5000 (that will be the most I will spend on the sled before they factor in the trade-in value of my XC) so I should be able to get an '05 by then, but if I can get an '04 for $4000 or less than would be a good thing too.
Thanks again,
Hebi

If you get an 05 over the 03-04, you won’t be tempted to spend extra on a better seat and/or after market suspension. An 05 will also be worth more when you decide to trade up in the future. It’s a buyers market out there right now. With the 06 improvements, I would guess there will be some good deals on 05s this year.

I don't thhink they did a thing to the RX1 rear suspension from 03/04. Still road like crap. Stay away from either one if you have the bucks to go 05. You can get a real deal on the 03/04 bur be prepared to spend some bucks and time on the rear. My dealer did not sell one 04 in 04 as everyone was aware of thr rear suspension problems and went with Warrior.
