While riding my 04 rx warrior today (just over 5000 miles) it all of a sudden had a grinding/ rattling noise coming from the shaft. When I opened the hood up everything looked fine.. we were close to home so figured I would just take it back slowly. As I continued to ride it after a couple minutes the noise just stopped but I lost my odometer and my speed tracker. all of my displays and lights work.. any suggestions?

Did the mileage odometer stop too? Your saying MPH is showing zero all the time now?

Sounds like your speedo bearing went bad.

looked at ASAP! If the bearing went bad it needs changed before riding. If not you could break the shaft if it hasnt already.

Yeah it sounds like the bearing below the secondary clutch may be bad. If the gear by the speed sensor has chewed up the speed sensor then you definitely know the bearing is bad. I had the same thing happen many years ago on a sled. It started making a squealing noise then it went quiet so I kept riding till later it started making a clunking noise and it stopped moving. That drive bearing went bad and took out the speedo cable. Then it eventually put stress on the chaincase bearing and ruined that to. The weird thing was once the loud squealing noise went away I never heard or felt anything unusual so I kept going. It did a lot of damage and it cost me a lot of money to get it fixed. So definitely check out that bearing.
