Well I just got my Warrior home. I REALLY like this sled. Would have LOVED to get an Attak but this matched my budget really well.
Anyway, I am trying to see what all needs to be done to make it "trail worthy." It already has Simmons ski's on it so I should be pretty good in that department. What else needs to be done? I keep reading that people are putting on rear heat exhangers. Is this needed for normal trail ridding?

Mine only heated up once, during break in,seems they run hottest then! No problems after.Use your own judgement.(I didn't buy one) Jay

I put the heat exchanger on mine last year mainly because of my experience on our first trip. It was mid-late Jan up in Canada and it had rained the previous week and then turned very cold. The lakes were all glare ice and the trails had marginal loose snow. I realize these conditions are very less than ideal and most untypical but after overheating 6 to 10 times over the weekend I figured for peace of mind I would install the rear exchanger. It was only about $80 last year so it wasn't a big investment. Also I was the only one in our group who had overheating problems that weekend.
I think if snow cover is good you will be fine without. And it you do overheat you can stop and pack the running boards with snow, that will really help. The addition of water temp gauge will also help you keep an eye on the temp before the overheat light comes on.
I can't think of anything else to make it "trailworthy" other than getting the suspension adjusted to your riding weight.

99% of the time you wont need the rear exchanger. The only time the light will come on is if your riding on a very icy, or crusted over trail for more then a couple miles. Then just stop and from the side of the trail throw some snow up on the running boards and let in idle. After about 30 seconds the light will go out. Then throw a little more on and continue riding. ===SRXSRULE===

Congrats
I had a Warrior for two seasons (got a new Attak). You will not be dissappointed. The first thing I would do is put a 2" handlebar riser. The higher bars will allow you stand up easier, but more importantly to sit and lean forward on tight corners, which will help keep the outside ski on the ground. Also, depending on the number of miles on the sled, check the Clicker Shock, as mine faded significantly after 1,500 miles. I had to tighten the preload on the spring to compensate and when that did not work - Yami replaced it. Further, check the W-arm for cracks - mine failed in three places. Even if it is not cracked, I would have it reinforced just to be safe. If you ride aggressively - the W-arm WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL. Good luck with your new ride.

I got the new Pioneer Performance catalog yesterday and they list the optional Warrior rear exchanger for $118 with all necessary hardware. The smaller RX-1 type is only $58.

If you want the piece of mind just get the Yamaha Mountain cooler. It's under $80.00 and fits perfectly and works great. I was told that Yamaha is selling this at their cost because of the isolated instances. That's pretty cool if you ask me.

Last year the mountain was priced at $80, it seems this year it has jumped by 3 times that. I bought mine last year for the $80. The old mountain cooler part number that is listed on my paperwork no longer comes up as a legitimate part number and new part number is the higher priced unit even though there is no change in the part.

check (test) anti-freeze might be all anti-freeze, this has been a problem on sleds and over heating. if so fill with 50/50 mix.

If it has Simmons skis, put the snow spray diverters on the skis, which direct snow spray from the inner skis skeg toward the heat exchangers.
Last year even on very hard packed trails my Warrior ran below 180 degrees all the time. (I installed a coolant gauge in the dash)
Also make sure the coolant is 50/50 or 40/60 water/antifreeze. Many from the factory were nearly 100 percent antifreeze. Pure antifreeze does not cool as well as a mix does.
