I am working on an engine swap on an 04' RX1, My customer got a motor out of a wrecked 03' sled. The problem comes after start up, it starts and idles fine untill you touch the throttle, even a little bit. It revs right up to 4000-4500 rpm and wont come back down. From what I can see everything is hooked up right and in the right spot. I do not have the secondary on as i am waiting for shims for alighnment. I think it could be free wheeling because there is no load on the engine. Do the cdi boxes need to be matched to the engine on these sleds? If you have any advice it would be much appreciated.

No its the carbs. I had an 05 that did the same thing and would engage the clutch and take off. did you use the carb rack off the old motor? The vacuum is not pulling them closed

No, the guy boughr the motor, ir didn't come with carbs just the motor and exhaust flex pipes. Should they be removed and cleaned? And is there a diagram somewhere showing hose routing?
Yes you will have to do a search on here there is a detailed post on it. I would pull the carbs and chck them though this new gas is a Bi#$ and I gave up on carbed models cause the gas can go bad in the bowls in just a couple of weeks.
I think its the pilot jets that cause this problem.

I know when I adjust the throttle cable on top of the carb rack too tight mine does that also. I just loosen it some and it goes back to normal.
