started motor this afternoon to let it warm up to change the oil let it run 5-10 minutes and after shut down the left side pipe (if standing behind machine) smoked white smoke. Not a lot but noticeable. Let it sit 2 or 3 minutes and fired it up again and it smoked out of same pipe for 3 or 4 seconds then cleared up and smoked just a little when I shut it back down again. It's a 2004 with 1900 original miles no mods that I am aware of motor wise never rode it yet, bought it this fall have had it running probably 20 times it always would smoke just a little on fire up just figured that was kind of like a car when it's cool. Coolant level has not dropped a bit since I have had it. Am I just being paranoid because I won't be able to ride it before we go on a week long trip or do what and where do I need to check? Thanks in advance to any help. I also have a video of it smoking with it off not sure if I can upload it on here or if that'd even help.

I wouldn't get to worried about it,at least util you drive it a bit and see if you notice any of the fluids dropping. mine smokes, steams, blows carbon, burns oil........ but runs perfect. I just keep driving the crap out of it, and love it.

Ok that's what I wanted to hear...being that it's new to me and I'm hauling it 450 miles before I know if it's ready just has me being a little paranoid. Thanks

They always smoke until the exhaust warms up fully.

What had me confused was it smoked at initial fire up like it always has then after 5-10 minutes of running when I shut the motor off was when the smoke began coming out of the one pipe and not the other

Totally normal.

Could be wrong, but the exhaust is one chamber, and I believe the exhaust also gets combined upstream after the headers. In other words, smoking from one side didn't mean anything. You said it has been running 20 times... Has that been actually out on the trails running, or just starting up in the garage? Could have lots of condensation if its been short starts.
