hey guys, i have an 04 rx1. This season ive been having problems with it running bad. Ill try to explain the isse the best i can so maybe you guys can help. When you start it with the choke the rpm's emediatly shoot up and the sled wants to take off. Its running perfect other than idle, no pops, no hesitation. It wants to take off when i set the idle any more than like 700rpm which i know is too low and it barly idles, but if i go any higher it will want to rocket off then for example when i ride it then let off the gas it still goes, like the throtles stuck but its not. Then when you ride then come to a stop the ide doesnt drop down it stays at like 3000 rpm's. But if i turn the idle down it runs fine other than wanting to take off when choking it. If i turn the idle to normal rpm's then i have the above problems. Im wondering if i idle jet is dirty, or my carbs need syncing, or the rx1 mountain throttle cable i installed to compensate for my riser is actually too long bc if you move it when the sleds runing the rps's change and theres allot of cable because i dont have a huge riser. Any help would be great its very confusing and fustrating.
The first thing I would do is clean the carbs. Followed with a can of seafoam and a new set of plugs.

Same problem everyone has when carbs are dirty. You can go 2" on the riser without changing the cable but the rpm's should not change when turning, make sure you have some free play on the cable where it connects to the carbs.

alright thanks allot ill take the carbs outt this weekend. When you take the carbs out do you need to sync them too? Also i have a 5" riser and there is plenty of slack in the cable i bought a longer one, but when i pop the hood and move the cable the rpm changes but wehn i turn from the handle bars its fine.

The cable needs to be a little loose where it books to the carbs. You need free play on your flipper. If you haven't synced your carbs it would be a good idea to do it. That makes a big differece if they aren't.
