Daughter has an 04 warrior with 2600 mile. Never had any problems to date. The sled is like new. It has been serviced regularly by the local Yamaha dealer.Last weekend we had gone about80 miles and stopped for a break, when she started it the head light did not come on. Both high and low beams did not work, Got the sled home and found the fuse had blown. Put in a new fuse , started it up and all seems to be ok.

Question is , is there anything to worry about? Was it a fluke or is there a real problem? Some thing made the fuse blow.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I put this topic in the electrical section but it appears it is not looked at to often.

Thank You Combat ;)!

Are you the original sled owner? That happened to me and it turned out that the p/o had installed an electric shield hookup, but had tucked it into the handlebar cover. One wire rubbed through and was shorting, since it took power from the headlight switch.

If it blows again, unzip the handlebar pad and inspect all the wiring, particularly the couple going to the hi/lo beam button. If nothing there, pull a headlight and check the voltage there for anything abnormally high(more than 14v or so). If so there could be a regulator issue.

Fuses do pop now and then like you said as just a fluke. Possibly from vibration, moisture, ect that fatigues the fuse and physically breaks the connection rather than from electrical load. It's pretty uncommon but can happen.
