I posed this question in the suspension area and got no responses. I will see if I have any better luck here
Anybody have a clue as to where my limiter strap should( would ) be set stock. And where they think it should be for that matter. I have had this sled since it was new. I have 9400 miles on it and made all kind of changes to try to stop the darting and hard steering. Last year before I went to Quebec I tried some Woody's dualys. I love em; I can finally steer without pulling my shoulders out of socket. Now I am trying adjust my suspension for overall handling and not just for better steering. I actually want a little more ski pressure now. Problem is I know I have moved the limiter strap on more than one occasion and have no clue what the stock position was. It isn't in the manual. Right now I pulled it up about 5 turns and have about 10 threads showing. Mine is tight when it's just sitting there and has some play when I'm laying across the front of the seat and checking the suspension. I would just like to know where Yamaha originally set it and where everybody else put theirs.
I weigh about 210 I currently have front and rear/rear shocks maxxed out, the middle one just slightly above minimum recommended, control rods at minimum and the dampner adjustment 5 clicks out from max. I also changed track at 7000 miles. I bought a solid 1" touring track. They seem to hold up much better than the rip saw and with the longer track I figured I could give up a little traction. It would be nice to be able to spin my track a little in the corners. I'm not as young as I used to be and I'm lucky enough to be able to ride on well groomed trails in western NY and Quebec. I need control on smooth trails more than I need the ability to handle the bumps. If it's bumpy I stay home but I still average about 2000 a year
Any feed back would be appreciatted

mine was 1 hole up from being let out all the way when i bought it new. i let mine out all the way trying to take pressure off the skis...then i put on the woody's doolies like you and now i am going to put it back to the second hole(tighten it up one hole).

Hi there walman I have a 2006 service manual and it states the limiter straps at a maximum of 35mm thread showing [more ski pressure] to a minimum of 10mm thread showing [less ski pressure] you could start at the max position the reduce in 5 or 10 mm increments until you find the sweet spot were your happy and keep each one equal length

Thank you hossZ28.
That's the exact information I was looking for. I try to keep all my adjustments inside the factory recommended ranges. I am glad to see I can pull my limiter up quite a bit more! I'll just start by pulling it up about half way from where it is now to the 35mm position. Like I siad; I need more ski pressure. I don't really like having to take measurements all the time though. I like the 7 position cams on my wifes Ski-Doo - real easy to adjust even trailside. It would make experimenting with the suspension much easier. Oh well I still LOVE my Yammi anyways
Thanks again
