i have a bit of rattle noise in the slutch at idle and wonder if it comes from the amount of play i found in the secondary clutch drive shaft.. i can pull and push it mayb a 1/16 of an inch and i see it has a bit of build up of wear dust at the bearing area on the tunnel. do i need to shim this play out to stop the wear and rattle or is it there so all can center up between the primary and secondary when under a load. sorta find its own perfect match between the two clutches so belt lines up well... any help welcome

thanks in advance
joe

The clutch noise is normal due to, I am told, the 3 cylinder cadence at idle. The play in the secondary clutch of 1/16 should be fine to help line up the belt at various RPM's. The dust you view is probabily a build up of belt dust and not much else. If the above primary clutch noise at idle bothers you as it does me, you can have a dealer install a quiet kit to minimize the noise. Otherwise, your CVT should be fine.
