I put some more miles on my 05 RX-1 this weekend. The high temp light does not come on when I am riding. It does however come on if I ride and then sit for a minute or so. I also noticed that if I stop when I am riding the exchangers on the floor boards are quite hot even though the light is not on.
My question is, do I need to consider a rear heat exchanger or water wetter? Or should I be ok since the only time the light comes on is at idle?

Should be ok, but a rear would help a ton and is very easy to put on!
Skydog P.S. Just did both to mine rear and water wetter

Check the coolant mixture....You will find lots of info on 100% antifreeze if you do a search. :exc:

I have seen the posts about the 100% antifreeze. Who is responsible for that anyways? The dealer?

I have an 03 and only had one problem last year and that was because it set for a little bit on the side of the trail while we working on a poo. I checked it last night and it looks to be a 100% antifreeze. I will fix that when I put a temp gauge in.

Check the antifreeze, add some water wetter (won't hurt). Mine and my buddys new Venom were 100% last year, dealer says it was Yamaha's mistake.
Also I found that you can't sit and idle like you could on a 2 stroke. You need to shut down if you are going to stop for a couple minutes or more especially after a hard run when the temp is going to high already.
Floor boards will get very hot under even normal conditions. Helps keep them dry !
