both sleds ran progressively worse during periodic starting this summer. I cleaned carbs although they were not bad. Now they will only fire on starting fluid then the sled dies. There was no fuel in float bowls when I opened the carbs up. I pulled fuel intake lines at fuel pump and they are bone dry. any issues out there with bad fuel pumps or filters!!! or do pumps need a prime??
The gas was drained & refilled yesterday ,still no luck. These sleds only have 900 miles on them and have been flawless till now.

I am no mechanical expert, but when I read had you had started it several times during the summer the first thing that came to mind was fouled plugs. If you start these sleds and don't let them properly warm up before switching them off again, you can foul the plugs.

replace the fuel filters in the tanks. odds are they are full of crud. if they are clean, you might have to use the rx trick of slightly pressurizing the fuel tank through the vent line to get the pump to pick up the fuel. usually just someone blowing into the vent tube like an air matress is enough to get it working.
took a look at fuel filter on the rx , element is completely brown.
looks like a good reason to take the shelby for a ride to the yami dealer!!

changed fuel filters in both sleds and they still were not getting fuel to the carbs. tried the trick of blowing air into gas tank vent line and it worked like a charm. both sleds started using this trick. thanks for the tip on this !!
saved me time and money not having to send them out for service.

fuel
when I took my carbs off for cleaning I had to hand choke a couple of the carbs to get fuel back to them I would have a friend help you & hand choke carbs 1&4 these are the carbs that hook to the pumps just put hands over those carbs till she fires if this doen't work then there is something blocking the fuel flow. I would not use starting fluid on any gasoline engine it is not good for them very dry fuel by hand choking you are forcing it to suck fuel. hope this helps

When they are drained bone dry, all I do is squirt a little bit of gas in the carbs' throats. You do this about 3-4 times and then they take right off on their own. This works in FIs also.
