I am ready for my first oil change after break in. What are guys doing, sticking with the Yami semi synthetic or going to a good one like the Amsoil 0W30.
My dealers service tech told me the oil usage problems I experienced with my 03 were most likely due to a additive in Canadian gas that was causing damage to the rings. My usage problem started about 1000 mi after I switched, but this also coincided with a Canada trip.
I really noticed a difference in the sled with the Amsoil, but am not sure it's worth the risk with any potential warranty issues.

Our group ran Amsoil 0-40 last year with great results. Yamaha only had 5-30 semi-synthetic. This year they have 0-30 semi-synthetic. We are all running this oil mainly for ease of purchase on the trail. On our bagger trips we generally change oil at 2000 miles and usually in the boon docks. Some of us are pushing 2000 miles this year without a problem.
