When I put my machine on it's lid earlier this month and lost about a liter of oil I had no choice but to use BRP XPS 4 stroke synthetic oil. A skidoo dealership was the only shop around and I did take a beating from my skidoo buddies so go easy on me. It is for the new Rotax 1200's and is for cold weather. The bottle has no specs on it at all except it is for snowmobiles and cold weather down to -40c. They dealership had called a Yamaha place and they indicated it should be fine. I had Amsoil 0w - 40 synthetic in it to start. Anyone know the specs on this stuff or if I should be fine? I do not want to drain $50 worth of oil out of it for nothing and then put $50 more in but I am going for a trip this weekend and I do not want to find out the hard way.

Any help is appreciated

You should be good to go. Oil is full synthetic for their 1200 four stroke and is for all climates. I have used many different types of oil, and they have all proven to be good. Don't sweat it and go ride! It also costs alot more than any oil I've ever used, even Yamalube. Must be good to stop that Rotax from blowing up!

Thanks and yes the cost up north was crazy. I did not know how much I had lost so I gave a buddy $60 to get three liters to be safe. I owed him $0.04 when he got back and the lady at the counter waited for him to dig around to find the change.

Good God man, $60.04 for 3 liters of oil. I just heaves mobil 5W-30 in mine, I think that's the brandname... it's in a silver bottle. They said it was good so. As far as I know it doesn't break the wallet either, but Dad buys it so I don't kow for sure.

$22 for a 5 Quart container of Mobil 1 0w-30 at the local Wal- Mart! :drink:
