I'm in need of a new track for my '05 vector. I only ride groomed trails and average ~ 200 mi/day. My current track is the standard ripsaw, which I have no complaints. Looking on e-bay I can get either a ripsaw or cobra for the same price. Which is better for trails and are there other tracks I should consider? Need a replacement ASAP.
I really loved the ice ripper on my wifes 05 vector, really worked well with the built in studs, seemed to be a perfect match for the vector. great braking, and pretty good extra on acceleration. I would definately get one again on a 120hp sled for sure....

I love my stock ripsaw. 120 studs up the center belt seem to be perfect for trail riding. If I had to replace it, I'd go with the same thing. Just my opinion based on my riding style/area.

I also bought the ice ripper track a couple of seasons back to replace my studded rip saw. One of the studs ripped out and went through the heat exchanger. I decided for the money it was a no brainer for the lower weight on the sled. With the lower weight and the slightly different lug pattern it has proven to be an amazing upgrade to my '05 Vector. I would by one again without question. Currently have 5000 kms on it and there isn't single stud lost and only a few hairs hanging out the side.
The hook-up is amazing.

I'm really interested in trying the cobra track with slightly larger lugs than the ripsaw...Unfortunately when replacing my skid I noticed a tear in my track and it's starting to make me worry on high speed runs..Time for a new one

Here's what Camoplast claim...
New product : COBRAâ„¢
New Hi-Performance Trail model. HI Performance enthusiasts looking for the best bite and performance in soft snow will have it with the new COBRA Track! Camoplast testing resulted with same top end speed as the RipSaw, however, improved performance in acceleration, braking and overall handling in soft - loose snow conditions often found on ungroomed trails, groomed trails mid-day, and of course off trail riding.

Kinda surprised nobodys mentioned the "Cat Quiet Track". Isn't that a special Ripsaw?

Snowtech magazine
Snowtech's latest issue (Jan-Feb) has an article on the camoplast tracks. Their spin on the cobra is that it is better than the rip in loose snow but allows more slide when turning, supposedly designed that way. So it sounds like straight-line and powder traction will be enhanced with a slight drop in corner 'stick'. Just depends on what you want.

How much taller is the cobra than the ripsaw?
I would imagine 120 studs up the center belt would alieviate the slide when turning.

I would say this would depend on the conditions. If the turn is icy or very hardpack...yes. If it's loose snow, studs do very little to aid traction.
I'm curious about this track moreso if it's quieter than the Ripsaw.
Just my .02

Looks like the height is 1.352

Not sure if the "single ply" technology is the way to go but they only offer it in 120" tracks.....bummer.
136 iceripper
Hi groomerdriver
I have a Iceripper XT 136 that I purchased at the Big East Show from Hudson Salvage -- Camoplast has it listed under Ice-Tech part# 9079H it is what they call a High Performance Trail Track with Sharp Stud and Single Ply Tecnology.
I didnt even use my original track (purchased a leftover 08 Vector LTX) bought the Ice Ripper on recomendation of my Son In Law and installed it on my new machine before the snow flew. I only have a couple hundred miles on the sled and will be checking it out today (track tension etc) so far seat of the pants equals satisfactory as I do not know what to expect yet. I am coming off of a 05 doo gsx limited which was center studded and am not use to the sounds I am hearing from the four stroke.
Just thought you would like to know that a Ice Ripper 136 is available.
