As this I am in a new world from 2 stroke power to 4 stroke power.
my mtn max pulls hard at a crack of the throttle no belt problems
my vector is different clutch is really hot could mount my hot dogger on it and cook my food lol. constant belt burning smell. Does not seem to be slipping. Tightened the secondary because did not hold rpm on long climbs poor back shift.
engages around 3800 rpm at 1000 ft revs to 8500 at 3500 ft drops to 8000
thinking about gearing it lower, multi angle helix, different primary spring but where do I go with weights?
sled is stock only plans for the near future is a different muffler.

You must remove some primary weight....usually from the tip in your case. Lower gearing will also help the clutches fully shift out in deep snow.
Thank you for the advice. I see stock it has a 39 degree helix I think i would be better off with at least a 43. I after I read that I think I have the secondary wound to tight.

What do you have in now. I just bought a set of primary weights with a 10.3 on the end of each the weight, and nothing on the inside that my dealer (EandS) said will pull 9000 RPM at 6000 to 7000 feet. I will check when I pull my stock ones out, but I am pulling 9000 RPM at 2200 feet. and 8000 RPM at 6000 to 7000 Feet
How many miles are on your sled? Just curious because I just came back from the Big Horns using the stock setup on a new sled(0 miles, 8500'-9900'). Every 50 miles I put on it I would get 3-5 more mph and ~500 rpm. Started with a 77mph limit at around 8k rpm. After about 220 miles or so I'm getting 93mph indicated at 9k rpm@ 9000+'. Walked right by a new RMK w/ 159".
Keep in mind we here in alaska never really see anything higher than 4500 feet in elevation. I ride from about 1000-4000 ft in elevation.
I found out that the dealers up here gear the sled up to 22/40 when stk that is set up at 8000 ft is a 20/40 I am going to gear back down.
at 4000 ft i was pulling about 80-90 mph and 8000 rpms max
it has 13.9 rivets in the weight. I am going to drop to a 10.3 in the rear and thinking a 13.6 in the tip. yamaha spec for 2-4ft is 13.9 and 10.3
I am also going to shim the primary the spring to get engagement over 4
I was also told they are having problem with track and hyfax melting together.
with gearing it down it should allow me to go to a 43-45 degree helix
I am not worried about top speed. I want track speed in the powder and getting 0-60 quick if it tops out at 80-90mph thats fast enough.
I would like to see 9000 rpms at 0-2000 ft wich would drop it to 8500 higher.
