I just pulled the skid out of my '05 Vector for the first time ever to install the Nytro springs that I never got a chance to use last season. Cleaned everything up and checked everything out since it's WAY overdue for any kind of maintenance. Can't see anything cracked or worn other than the original front idlers which gave up back in '05 and have just been dangling ever since. I may as well replace them I guess. Bushings don't look too bad, but now's the time for those too. Been out of the loop for awhile tho.

1) I assume the idler design still hasn't changed? What are you guys having luck with? I don't want to have to machine or rework anything.

2) What are you guys using for replacement bushings? Those nylatron(?) things that were going around a few years ago?

Thanks.

I have heard guys here mention that you can use Polaris, and Skidoo wheels as replacements, just check the bearing and wheel diameter sizes for compatibility.

Well, the 2010 models have replaceable bearing, finally. I haven't really looked into the rear skid wheel as I 'm not keeping the rear skid, but even if you go back a few years, they should have wheels that will fit, with replaceable bearings.

The bearing is wiped out on one of mine, but bearing life really doesn't matter if the wheel itself wears away first... those fully plastic wheels were junk.

I Heard that the accessory wheels were better quality than original. Made by someone else like Kimpex or something? My sled is a 2005 with the ProActive skid though so would it take a different wheel?

I'm doing really great now. Feeling better than ever! Thanks for asking. More than ready to get on that sled this year!

Hey twomorestrokes, I replaced my rear idler wheels with the Yamaha acessory spoked wheels right after I brought my new sled home. I liked the way they look and the bearings are replaceable. I am now starting to replace my bogey wheels in pairs with these wheels when they go. I had one bogey freeze up at the end of last season and just put on a set of the spoked bogeys over the summer. G.B.

Guess I'll get a pair of those and give them a try. For all of the badmouthing this skid gets, this thing held up pretty good for me. A couple of wheels and bushings and it'll be ready for another 5 years hopefully.

Nice hearing from you guys. Thanks.
