Does anyone know where I can get a new stator for my 05 Vector? I'm looking for one that's better than the original. I have two of these 05 Vectors, and I had to replace the stator in one of them last year. I have the old one from that job and I would be willing to get that refurb'd if anyone knows of a place that will return a better than new stator. I've seen the place in Canada (RMSTATOR), but I'm looking for a pretty quick turn around time if possible.
Also interested in knowing if Yamaha has remedied this problem in newer model sleds. I'm pretty pissed
that they aren't recalling this to make it right. Sure does eliminate any money saved over a 2-stroke. I had the dealer replace the stator in my sled last year because I thought they could get it done in time for a ride that was planned. That was a big mistake - it cost me $1300 and they didn't get it done in time for the weekend ride as requested and promised

How many miles did you get out of it before it went?

3300mi on the first one I did last year.
I've got 3800mi on the second sled and figured I better check it before I start riding this year. Sure as crap the resistance readings are high, .6 & .8 ohms. Although the voltage is 13.9V at the battery when running I think it's on borrowed time and failure is imminent.

Weird they went out with such low miles. I have just shy of 6000 miles on my '05 and it's still running strong but it's always in the back of my mind after reading these posts..

Good luck to you. Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones and never have a problem.

Hey R-Freak how's it going? My stator on my 05 went at ~7100 miles. Ticking time bomb if you ask me. If I had to do it all over, when my sled hit 6000 miles or before a season started (preferred), I'd replace it.
A stator going bad = A TRIP KILLER
The season is short enough as it is.

Good call Groomer! I am doing the cam tensioner anyway so I decided to order a stator at the same time and get that monkey off of my back too.
18500 miles here, on 2005 RS Venture.
Orig. tentionner & stator.
Just made a no man's land 400km trip in the nowhere and the cold by myself tells you how much trust i have.
....just wanted re-balance the dark side a little

That's great to hear. I have a feeling I'm on borrowed time. I read this stuff daily and it's getting to me. I'd like to change out the tensioner just to be safe, I'd hate for this motor I've babied since new to grenade. Then, I'm just going to give her till something goes.
Port has the stator for $275.76 and I believe they are wound better along with reinforcement of the wires coming out of the unit. I tried a stator search and my flipping head was spinning!

Hello, you say you paid $1,300 to replace a stator on an 05 Vector? I believe you got ripped off. They charged you the labor for the new chasis style, not the 05 chasis. 05 chasis is about 1 hour of labor. Part was $328.00. The newer chasis is 5 hrs of labor or more. They charged you wrong. I just called to get a price quote and the dealer almost made the mistake with me but he caught it. I have an 05.

Had the stator in my 06 Vector replaced last year do to failure at about 8000 miles. Was $380 for the stator and $340 for labour, and I live in Canada where costs are somewhat more. I believe it is a time consuming project as the engine needs to be rotated forward to get at it and replace it. Would have done it myself but didn't have time as was leaving on a sled trip in a few days. Glad it acted up before I left.

Any symptoms to watch for before they go? Have 6000 miles on my 07 vector.

Mine would just drain the battery, replaced the battery and would still drain. Sled ran fine once boosted to start. Did a resistance test and the readings were way off. Stator replaced, problem solved.

one of our 2008 vectors had the stator go out, and it took 6 hours labor to do it. they just notched out the frame support a bit to get the front cover off. having to drive 20 miles with a boost batery in the running boards was not what i'd call fun.
