Is there a ECM controlled "break in" period on these machines? My riding buddy bought an 06 Apex RTX with 350 miles on it. It now has 500 miles showing. We went out and did some fun racing. I beat him every time even on a rolling start. There was a base of 12" of hard packed snow on the river and it was above freezing here today. Good day for the kids to make snowmen. We switched machines and still the Attak prevailed. We were doing 1/2 mile runs. Each machine peaked out mph wise in these conditions. I was atleast 4-5 sled lenghts in front all the way. His speedo showed a consistent 5 mph slower than the my Attak. I knew I would get the holeshot but I really thot he would reel me in with the taller gearing. His RTX is stock except for the windshield.

I'm not sure the 06 RTX has taller gearing than the attack, remember the rtx is geared lower than the GT, but I dont remember if the attack and rtx are different. Also, my 06 took about 1,000 miles to really loosen up.

I'm pretty sure the rtx has a 22 tooth gear, I know the 136" has a 23t gear and I know the ER has a 24t gear

we have the 06 rtx,and i had the 07 rtx plus i had the 06 attak, now if you run far enough and the 06 rtx is running 10,500 plus it may run by the attak, but if you drop the 06 down to the 23 top it is generally a very differant story, plus it all depends on how the rings were broke in,on all sleds,on all of our sleds, the 06 rtx has the fastest top speed,on either very very hard pack snow or ice, after a mile though. The 07 rtx is quicker, and generally faster on snow, but slower on glare ice,and most attaks are quicker, and faster in a half mile.

My brother usually walks me on his '06 attak at the top end. We both have stock gearing. I really think his sled just has less rolling resistance. The other possible variable here is drive belt condition. Switch belts and I'd be curious to know the outcome.
