06 Apex cam timing, Who has the answers?

I have an 06 apex with sidemount turbo. I am running the JE 9.1 pistons instead of a head shim. Throttle response is good but not great. We installed the same kit in another sled using the head shim and dialed back his intake cam timing to factory 109 lobe center. The throttle response is better than factory, boost is much quicker. The only problem is a rough idle. Can someone please advise us on proper calibration and are you slotting stock cam gears or using aftermarket? Thanks

Sounds like your on the right track with the cam timing. Maybe the rough idle cause of the breather being plugged?

Ken, keep me posted on your install. Any Q's or pictures just ask. We have three that are done now. After finishing the last one with the cam timing change I'm even more impressed with the throttle response.
